Job cuts that have afflicted almost every sector of the economy reached into the oil industry Thursday, as the biggest oilfield service providers said they were cutting employees.

It was a very trying week last week as I was trying to cope with the lose of my job with schlumberger, as they would not tell me how they picked me to be let go, when I had the most senority, and have never been written up as some of the other gals have. I also have to say that 2 weeks pay is a crappy severence package as I have bills to pay and can not find a job either.

Mainly Production Personnel with a few office lackeys for good measure. A lot of "seasoned" HB people were cut in Conroe, as well as workers who are "un popular" with mid-management.

Sure, lay off employees so that production goes down and gas supplies dwindle. Then they can cry to the world that they'll have to raise prices because supplies are tight. As you can see at the pumps, even as the price of crude has dropped to $36 per barrel, cheap gas has stopped making its way to us.

Today in the NY Times. Top story, The BOOM IS OVER IN ND.
That's right the BOOM is over. I worked in Williston,ND druing Sept and Oct. I was told this boom was going to last 10 to 20+ years. Sure lots of you still have your jobs there for now but not for long. I have friends that run the rigs and they say the boom is over many will be layoff very soon.
Anyone on this fourm that keeps telling the to come to ND to work is only out for them selfs. If you come here you will be out work very soon for very long time.
There are going to be lot's fire sales on homes in ND very soon.
One more thing I was told not to post it from someone in HR in williston
End of Feb halliburton is going to have two big layoffs one in the end of Feb 35% of workers will get cut. Then one more big layoff in March 35% more workers cut from Halliburton. They will not be the only ones cut back big time. As you can see this so called boom has come to end for years to come. A $200,000 house will sell soon for $70,000 in williston,ND
Anyone that is thinking about coming here for work are just fools. ND is not like other states onces your out work here your out of work for years, unless you want to work for $6.00 hr if you can find that. Don't be fool looking to hit it big in ND it's not going happen now.

Ok,,,,so,,,,the Demodopes and "the one" Karl Marx Obama were just a couple of months ago calling for a windfall profits tax on the oil companies. THANK GOD NO ONE LISTENED TO THEM!!!! The oil companies would be in even worse shape than they are now. Remember,,,it's ALL supply and demand people. There are NO evil companies. There is only the cold hard truth of the economic expansion and contraction. The economy is a living breathing thing that ebbs and flows. We can only support a strong economy with low taxes, a good business climate for businesses and very very few government regulations. We can't artifically do anything. Take the housing boom/bust. That was ALL due to the Democrats forcing the banks to loan money to people whom had no business getting loans. It should have been left to the private sector to control.

I work on the North Slope in Alaska. We have a lot of guys that are doing nothing more then the above. Do your job and then some. Get your team together and be the best. Practice safety, be alert, make your supervisor look good. Communicate on the job, be productive. If you do all these things, it is the best you could have done, the rest is beyond your control.

Do this means cost cutting measures by Schlumberger and Halliburton to reduce highly paid workers in the Western countries and shift their operations to Asia for economical of scale.
You can see they are building a lot of new facilities in Asia.

Their making billions here, their absolutely raping the government everyday and using the cheapest third world labor they can find. schlumberger has no love for their employees when it comes to lay-offs and they have layoff the lowest employes to save the highest paid.
