Has anyone got a copy of the the Detective Magazine with the story of the Ben Tester Murder? I had went to school with most of the boys that were involved in it. I was out of state when I had heard that the magazine came out.

I for one do not want to read about that crime. Thanks to the Sheriff at that time, most got new trials and were found not guilty. Luckily they didn't have the brains to stay out of trouble and are proubly are in jail.I worked in a store in Hampton when they first got out of jail. People were afraid of them. One would come in the store, put his foot up on the counter and raise his pant leg just so we could see a large knife he carried. I remember an officer telling us to never work alone without a gun, even though it was not allowed. He told us all we had to do was say we feared for our life and shoot them. He said I promise you will never serve a day in jail.People were so angry at that time,i am suprised they weren't found dead. I stayed many nights with the graveyard person because they would sit in a car in the parking lot.No way could I leave her alone. When they were around we took care of each other. They deserved to be hung on a tree, just like the man they killed.Justice was never served in that case and it never will be.

The men and woman that killed Mr. Tester made growing up in Hampton at that time a living hell. I was young girl at that time and had to ride the school bus and attend classes with these thugs. I will always associate bad things with anybody that shares their last names.

The woman that served time over the crime because she knew about the plan but was not present when it happened has surely been released by now. Has anyone heard where she is,or if she changed her life?

Dear Flutterby or anyone, I would like addresses or specific locations for these people,I need to know!!!! I knew Jeff Causby a little,he was a follower not a leader(just a coward punk), The rest where nothing but two-bit punks with hangman nooses tattooed on them(you know who you are!)I wish they would contact me, but I doubt they have brains enough to put together sentences or they are just plain old cowards!!!! p.s. I'm not a 72 year old man PUNKS!!!!

I can remember when no street lights were ever in Hampton. I knew the person who found Mr. Tester hanging in that tree. After that, street lights went up every where. I grew up in Hampton and Mr. Tester was a fine man. These punks were just evil! Maybe not now, but there will be a day of reckoning for these who did such a horrible thing.

Not only did these people kill an old man that couldn't protect himself but also ruined the life of his brother. Nelson Tester was a teacher at Little Milligan Elementary school, he was Ben Tester's brother. He lived the remaining years of his life scared to death. He was a guy that loved to fish, and be around people. After his brother's vicious death he was afraid to be alone, would not even answer the door. What ashame that the people that did this to an old man was ever aloud to see the sun again. But Judgement day is coming, and we will be judged according to the way we have lived our lives, No getting out jail free passes are given!

So Odd, I never knew they were brothers! I loved Mr. Tester and his rock creatures he made. He was one of my favorite teachers. I remember when he went to live with his daughter on dry hill. I often drive by his original house by the lake and think of him and his wife.

Yes, I talked to Nelson's daughter a while after his brother was killed, they hadn't lived on dry hill long at that point. That is where I got the information that he was scared to leave the house, and hid everytime someone pulled in the driveway. It really effected him badly. He was such a friendly and outgoing person.

I was one of the school kids that found Mr. Tester in the tree. The bus would let us off at Brown's and we had to walk home. My sister and I and some friends was the ones that called the law. You tell me how a man can be in a tree all day and nobody see him. When school lets out and the kids are walking home from school. To see something like that was not right for any kid to see and yes I'm older now and I still see that man hanging in the tree just as if it was yesterday. Some are out of jail and some are in jail and yes some are dead. I myself keep a check on where they are and who they are with because I don't want to be in the dark with any of them EVER

Sad isn't it that something like that effects someone the rest of their lives. Sorry that you and ur sister had to go thru that. But I hope that the boys that done that to Mr. Tester sees it in their minds every second of every day. It made no sense that they done that to an old man who couldn't protect himself.

I too am sorry you had to see something like that. But I doubt the men who did this ever think about it,or care. Someone who is that evil to begin with could care less about what they did.

Does anyone know what happened to Glenida Peele? Did anyone here know Clifford Peele personally?

I have been in contact with Clifford Peele, and, I had wanted to contact Glenida, his ex-wife. Since there was no forensic evidence as the police contaminated the crime scene, I have been trying to piece together exactly what happend that tragic, horrible night to cause anyone to harm an innocent old man. I have spoken with Naomi Causby, Jeff's mom, and am hoping to speak with Glenida. I also would like to see that Detective magazine everyone is talking about. That may have some more information. Any insight regarding the true facts in this case would be helpful.
