A local radio station reported the child passed away.
Can someone confirm that information?
Regardless, my prayers are with the family of this precious child.

I heard that the parents were there but the mom was texting and the dad was holding the dog. I can't imagine the pain of the parents and the driver who did nothing wrong.

No names have been released yet. I have been on facebook getting caught up on the news and it's not there. Bet it will be tomorrow before names are released.

Our community is being hit hard with sad news. Hope we can continue to support each other during these difficult times without blame, finger pointing, and assumptions.

Blessed Be.

the child was holding his mothers hand and jerked away and ran after his cousin. SHE WASN'T TEXTING and the father wasn't there. Please have respect for my nephews family and not spread untruths and rumors.

You wrote such important words. There should not be rumors spread about this terrible tragedy. It was an ACCIDENT. Parents can be as cautious as humanly possible and ACCIDENTS still happen. I am so sorry for your loss and for the terrible trauma your family is enduring. I hope your family is close to each other and that there are many friends and the love of God to comfort you.

As a parent, I know this can happen in the blink of a eye. It was just an accident. I guess the surprise isn't that people die but that people live.

Anyone with children know how quick children can jerk and run from you. One minute theyre right beside you the next you are all over the place looking for them. My heart goes out to both sides of the accident. May god be with you all during this horrible time.

Well, I had a small child. She didn't jerk away from me when she was little. She knew better. When I was small, I sure didn't jerk away from my mom, because I knew better.

It's amazing how people will explain away an event without knowing any of the facts. I'm not casting blame on anyone at this point, but quit explaining away what happened and calling it an "accident" if you really don't know the facts.

What is the matter with some of you people?
It was a tragic accident and you need to just pray for the family and the driver.
That's it.
Nothing else needs to be said.
Nothing else should be said.
Period.

Unless you were personally there and saw exactly what happened or are a family member, you have nothing to say other than to offer condolences. So don't.

Whoever posted under "Lemonade"..that was an inappropriate comment.

It's really mind boggling that some of you have to be told this. It's called RESPECT. and just because you don't have to use your name on here does not relieve you of your responsibility to show respect to others.

Oh Please, lemonade. I has a small child once, I'm sure she wasn't as perfect as you say you were, but she knew not to pull away from me, not to run into traffic, but sometimes kids just don't think.

How would you try to explain away this event? How in God's name could you call it anything BUT an accident.

Clearly, you don't know the facts either.

Please, please, please let us all know when you are ready to cast blame, as we, the general public, can't really cast our own judgement until we hear it straight from you. Since your opinion of 'casting blame' will surely be the truth.

I will be glued to Topix until we hear your decision.

I HATE when people that know nothing of a subject pontificate like they are an authority.
