Becoming an Officer in The Army.?Ok, so I've got a situation. When i was 18 I joined the military and crapped out. No need to spill the reason on here, the recruiter told me today I would still be able to join as long as I had a waiver.
Now here's the tough part. I want to become an officer. OCS right now is probably out of the question because I've got some stuff on my credit report I'm working on. I just got accepted to grad school, and I was told I could join the 2 yr ROTC program and get a commission upon graduating grad school. The thing is... I STILL probably wouldn't be able to pass the security clearance because of the credit situation. Another option would be for me to join the National Guard as an enlistee, join the Guard ROTC program and then get a comission upon graduation.
Lastly... I could work through this credit issue AND grad school and hope that upon graduating with my master's I can get accepted into OCS... however, I will be 27 - 28 when I graduate. Is that too old? Are there a lot of lieutenants even that age around?
Do I have a chance in hell of becoming an officer? I've always wanted to join. Which option seems like the most viable one for me?
