Why does Bangor hate pedestrians?

Bangor is such a pedestrian unfriendly city. I've lived in Boston and felt more respected as a pedestrian than I am here in Maine. The city isn't really designed properly for traffic flow either so it's rather traffic flow unfriendly as well. But man statistically on a ratio between different cities I would have to say more pedestrians are hit by cars in Bangor than any place I've seen. Sure in raw numbers it seems like less but on a ratio it's pretty high. In the winter it's scary because the sidewalks are either never plowed or they are simply not plowed or sanded correctly. And drivers don't seem to grasp reality when they think they have some fictional right to run over someone because we are walking the shoulder or crossing where there is no cross walk. In the real world if you see a pedestrian you have NO legal right to scare them or run them down in cold blood. Not only is the city ignoring modern day ways to created better traffic flow but they are ignoring the modern day push for cities to be more pedestrian friendly. Both the city office and the local drivers have an unfounded hate for people who walk. But you know we aren't all fat lazy jerks racing to our next McDonalds meal as our fat obese kid sits in the back seat. Not all of us like to driver with a cell phone stuck to our face while we run red lights. Which brings me to another point is this foolish notion that just because the car in front of you is running a red light that you somehow believe you have a right to scoot behind them. That is not legal nor is it even logical. Too many times we've been driving in Bangor and miss our green light entirely because one stupid Mainer after another is scooting in behind the car before them so they all end up running a red light. The law states that if the light is red you need to STOP. Anyway one last thing, why is it that people in Bangor will stop for a pedestrian in a cross walk but as soon as we step out you already step on the gas and start creeping towards us? This is just rude and dangerious. You need to wait until the pedestrian is out of the way before you start creeping... May 1 more point to make is the "Im a big man" syndrom that Bangor drivers have in which you will stop for a pedestrian to cross but if we don't walk you get pissed off. Did it cross your mind that maybe we don't walk to cross because people are now passing you on the ditch/shoulder. Did it occur to you that if you stop to be nice then your ego shouldn't be bruised because we don't want to cross because you want us to. Besides too many times a driver has waved me to cross and then starts that stupid creeping thing as I walk in front of them. There are many reasons why a pedestrian may not cross simply because you wave us to and you should not honk your horn and wave your hand sarcastically and force us to cross if we don't to simply because you're suffering from "Im a big man syndrome" this also goes for the women drivers as well.
