I hope this aid is given with 'no strings attached.' When I lived in a rural village in Thailand, some Christian group came to offer free medical care. After seeing a doctor, but before receiving medicine or treatment, the Thai villagers (Buddhists) had to sit down and listen to a proselytizing session about believing in god and jesus, etc. Kids had to watch a cartoon video about the book of Genesis. Not exactly unconditional giving.

The aid is usually given in the form of food, clothing, some sort of temporary shelter, medicine, and medical care. Its whatever the need of the situation calls for. The catholic church has had a long tradition in giving in this manner.
