What can I do about loud neighbors. In my case they play loud music 2 to 3 times a week all times of the day all the way to 3am. I've tried to deal with the neighbors directly. I've gone over anywhere from 10pm to 2 am and even went during the daytime when they're still playing their loud music and when they're not. They just don't care. They might quiet down for that night or two but they'll still play the music loud as they please. No matter how polite or forceful I am. They just don't care. I've had this problem for 6 months now. My next resort is to simply call the police EVERY SINGLE NIGHT until they either get fined or are forced to move. If not, unfortunately, it looks like I'll have to move my home of 42 years. I wish I never went to talk to them because now they'll know who called the police on them but I have to do something to keep my sanity. This is just plain wrong. In my case the people making noise live in a 2 apartment house. They both play music loud inside and outside. Many times it's from their car stereos. I'm the closest person who lives to them. The other houses in my neighborhood get shielded from most of the noise by my house and they are too chicken to do anything about it. What do I do? What do I do?

ok, so calling police is a no-go for the reasons you stated.

How about this; when there is no loud music, they are either sleeping or out of the house @ work or buying new DVDs, right?

So get your own fav music blasting and see how they feel about it.

Start the records, cd or dvd and take a walk.

Good luck there pal, been there too!

If you live in Buena Vista, we have a noise ordinance. After 10pm, the noise level has to drop.
If you live in Buena, go to the township website, look up the noise ordinance, and when you call the police tell them we have a noise ordinance,(they usually don't know). Direct words from our mayor,' You can have the police measure the sound waves when they arrive to the property" Just call the police and stand your ground, & every single time something goes on with them, call the police, don't let low life people with little brains run you out of your home. Take action!!

Thank your for your comment. I do have to do someting. The people across the street are Mexicans crammed up in that house. There are as many as 10 cars there. Two families and numerous individuals. I think my best route is the code inspector or child services. If it was simply one family, I think the police is the way to go but since there are more than one person who can retaliate, I need to worry that they'll know who called them in. I just wish the police wouldn't say that a neighbor called about the complaint when they are called in about noise ordinances violations.

They'd win that war. I couldn't play music that loud with the stereos I have. With my luck, the neighbors would call the police on me. In my situation, there are anywhere from 10-15 adults with kids living across from me. To me it seems they play loud music when they are ALL awake or when others in their own house are sleeping. I think their immune to loud music. My best luck is a code inspector or child services. That would be the quickest way to get things quieter.

Hey!

I hear ya man.
DYFUS is great! They may be damaging the little ones' hearing; if not damaged by now.

here it is; The Department of Children and Families - including "
can make the report anonymously"

http://www.state.nj.us/dcf/abuse/how/
"In New Jersey, any person having reasonable cause to believe that a child has been subjected to abuse or acts of abuse should immediately report this information to the State Central Registry (SCR). If the child is in immediate danger, call 911 as well as 1-877 NJ ABUSE. A concerned caller does not need proof to report an allegation of child abuse and can make the report anonymously."

Do callers have immunity from civil or criminal liability?

Any person who, in good faith, makes a report of child abuse or neglect or testifies in a child abuse hearing resulting from such a report is immune from any criminal or civil liability as a result of such action. Calls can be placed to the hotline anonymously.
Is it against the laws of New Jersey to fail to report suspected abuse/neglect?

Any person who knowingly fails to report suspected abuse or neglect according to the law or to comply with the provisions of the law is a disorderly person and subject to a fine of up to $1000 or up to six months imprisonment, or both.
What happens after I make the call?

When a report indicates that a child may be at risk, an investigator from the Division of Youth and Family Services will promptly investigate the allegations of child abuse and neglect within 24 hours of receipt of the report."

Good luck to you and all their children who are being reared in a negative manner!

Now that the weather is below freezing- I would assume the Mexicans are feeling too cold to play their music out loud. My experience has been the hotter the weather- the louder they get.

I have almost the same problem the think with me is that I live in puerto rico and police here don't do nothing about it. I really want to move to the states but Im afraid Im going to be racially discriminated .I understand when people talk about some hispanics not all but most of them in their country are used to do whatever they want basically. Like the other day they call the police because a parent was crazy, they didn't wanted to go so he ended it up killing his 4 year old daughter.
Maybe Im too sensitive to noises but I doubt it.I lived in denver co and I remember all the mexicans will put their music really loud at any hour,so I don't get it for me If I move to another place is because I want better quality of life so I don't get it.

Many people play loud music all night long because they don't give a r@t$@$$ about their neighbors. They feel that they worked hard all day long and deserve to party as they please. They don't care that they're ruining the quality of life of their neighbors. The best thing to do sadly is to call the police every single day so that the homeowner will get fined and hopefully they'll stop or if they're not the tentant that they kick them out. Then you gotta hope that the cycle doesn't repeat itself. People today just don't care anymore about their neighbors.

I agree, the weather does not effect them especially when they are drunk 99% of the time...

Ghetto mexicans & blacks make the worst neighbors. Its best to move into a community with a home owners association that enforces the rules on noise.

i don't think weather makes them less noisy as well. They don't care about what neighbors think or that they are trying to sleep or enjoy watching tv at a normal setting instead of loud so that they can try to drown out the excessively loud Mexican music all hours of the day and night.

Im puerto rican and I think culturally you do that but let's not generalize because I can't say all white people are racist or live on trailers or are child molestors you know that's why is not good to generalize everybody can do that

We don't have a problem with loud music but some jerk keeps setting off fire works on or near Valley Avenue. Last Friday I thought we were at war because of the constant noise. You can't tell me that the cops don't hear this if they are riding around. This goes on constantly no matter what the weather and it's not just on holidays.

Does anyone have any idea what has happened to one of the white ducks at the lake? Last year one of the male volunteers at the Canoe Club had the duck removed who had been there for almost ten years. The elite seniors at the club didn't want to step over duck poop. Now, one more duck is missing and doesn't anyone care about the lake. The ducks were beautiful and looked very serene swimming around. They bothered no one and looked beautiful.
The Gazette was notifed when the older duck went missing to possibly write an article about people stealing the wildlife. Of course, the Gazette couldn't do anything even when they were told the name of the man from the club involved.
The wildlife has been at the lake for years and ever since the Canoe Club was built it seems that the park centers around them.

The neighbors just called the police about fireworks being set off and she was told that it is before 10:00pm so they can do this. The noise ordiance starts after that time.

What has happened to the white ducks at the lake. Last year there were three and the Canoe Club had one taken away because it pooped near their building. Then there were two and the last two weeks only one was spotted. Can't this lake have anything pretty like ducks swimming. I have went to the lake to relax or read and loved seeing them. Did the elite seniors at the canoe club have something to do with this one missing.
