How does Hammonton "table" plans for a Super Wawa? Really? Are they looking at the same vacated town that I am? They should be ecstatic that someone wants to do business here. Lets just continue to stare at boarded up buildings on overgrown lots. Great job guys. Moved here 6 years ago with high hopes and have seen a steady decline. We should want to attract attention to our town any way we can. Even if its by way of a gas pump and large convenience store. Someone, for the love of god, please let me know I'm not the only one that feels this way.

. Seems very narrow minded but then Hammonton has always been stuck in the distant past.

I AGREE!
SAME AS THE Home Depot fiasco;
and probably the Auto Zone store mess on the WHP; last I read was that one @@@@ planning board member wanted to know what type of native plants will be included in the landscaping. LOL Look at the place now, all weeds and this @@@@ wants "native plants" - maybe more Dandelions or crabgrass? So, Jobs & RE taxes from HD and AZ are floating away along w/all the other abandoned properties.

Haven't you realized yet that Hammonton doesn't want outsiders in their town. They are more worried about the Bellevue strip of stores will lose business. Nothing but the elite and restaurants and don't see many out-of-towners going there. The third Thursday activities can't compare with Haddonfield or Collingswood. Wake up Hammonton.

Hammonton doesn't have a Fourth of July parade or fireworks to celebrate Independence Day. Everything centers around "Cruisin, Blueberry Festival and the Mt.Carmel festival. When you have seen them once or twice that is enough. Nothing happening in this town but that is how they like it.

Hammonton Senior well said. In Hammontonian, you're either a Hammontonian or Maybe you'll be allowed to be called the lower caste Hammontonese or simply a visitor. They welcome you to their festivals but other than that, you are not welcome to live or open a business their unless The Top Families approve. It 's not about what is best for Hammonton.

Thank you.........HaHa

You are right.....a person doesn't matter if you aren't a Hammontonian. The Top Families run this town and have too much say about what happens here. How long as the SuperFresh store been closed and now Fashion Bug? Oh, well, they are losing tax money. People laugh when I tell them that there is only a Shop Rite and Walmart to shop. We have to drive over 20 miles to shop anywhere else. I don't go to the festival or Cruisin'. After going once it's always the same. This town is known as the have and have nots.

There have been good pluses. It's all this political control that has kept Hammonton from progressing forward. I was born here but I'm not considered a Hammontonian. You have to have the right last name or be connected them somehow. The SuperFresh closed because it sucked. Our ShopRite isn't any better. I used SuperFresh as a convenience store. You have to be careful in making sure the stuff isn't expired plus some of their own label products don't last long after you open it. If THEy didn't stop Lowe's from coming..SuperFresh would still be in business and there would have been more businesses on the Pike.

ha ha how true!! They just LOOOOVVVEEE when people come here and give them money, but open a business or work in a store and have to take their money and it is quite a different story. I used to work in a restaurant in town and the stories I could tell you!! I could give you names of people who used to come in an eat and not pay for their food. Grifters all of them.

FYI: The owners (most)on Bellevue are all wives of wealthy men. These stores are just vanity projects to keep them busy now that the kids are grown and out. I will never buy from any of them because they are not Mom and Pops trying to make a buck to pay their bills. For the most part they are spas/candy stores/restaurants and cupcake stores and they are in every downtown area now. These are all funded by the government. That is where they got the money. ACCC and Stockton are here because the town gets money from the government and it doesn't matter if anyone attends classes. This is how the town pays its bills in lieu of raising taxes. THIS TOWN IS ON WELFARE.

Go to cruising in the other towns that have it because it is held everywhere. Same carnival that goes thru South Jersey starting in May and goes on from here to other towns too. Go to the religious festival when they have it in North Jersey. I do and I guarantee you will not see any of the ugly witches of Hammonton there with their big noses and orange skin and fake boobs.

Bellevue businesses who were not campaign contributors 2005-2010 had their leases raised or not renewed. They even "persuaded" the Spanish store to move to be tucked more out of view to the other side of the tracks which is now nicknamed the Spanish Sector or my favorite Tijuana Town by some. They even moved the bus stop so that Spanish people wouldn't be seen downtown.

The jug handle on 54 is going to get more congested and have more accidents. There will be more accidents at the traffic light due to the backup of people making left turns onto the Super Wawa if heading West.

all the soccer games held at the end of Oak Road are a big win for businesses on the Pike. I've never seen so many people at Wawa and restaurants on the Pike in one weekend!

The family who owns Al & Rich's is going to fight a Super Wawa in town. Everyone is talking about that.....another top family making decisions for the town.

I think it'll be a tough fight for Wawa no matter how many lawyers and how much they spend to put up a fight. Those who oppose can win on the fact that the location where Wawa wants to build is a bad spot and the gateway to Downtown. It would be a traffic nightmare.
