I'd like to see an Anti-Abortion advocate picketing the Planned Parenthood clinic with a more persuasive slogan than "abortion is murder". Have they ever spent their efforts offering a 100% free-of-charge babysitting service? How about an adoption service? It seems more productive-and fulfilling-than "blogging".
Keeping in mind that most women are mothers, not murderers, and thinking from a mother's perspective; please understand that she has based her decision on the fact that it would be best for the BABY; not herself.
Now, much to advocates' surprise, most North American women are quite educated. If she has made the choice to abort, I guarantee she is also aware of the facts as well as the detriment. This is just the same as any moral being watching the news or reading the paper-around election season.
Most women choosing to perform this procedure have taken much time to weigh the issue and are completely aware of what they are doing, how it will be done, what will happen afterwards, and where to turn if it all goes downhill. This is because the Planned Parenthood clinics are proficient at counselling young women through this ordeal, who are usually left alone, and then scapegoated to boot.
If there is a true solution, it would be to over-educate our youth with abortion's good, the bad, and ugly sides. If the procedure was available at a regular hospital where neither doctor nor patient feels threatened, perhaps we will find a truly productive use for an unborn fetus.
There are much larger issues in the world than legalizing abortions. Regardless of whether WE want them to or not, abortions will still take place. In the name of medical science, some positive should, and will, come from the negative; if we let it.
Anyone who misses my point needs to read again.
