We live on a gorgeous river and can't swim in it unless you travel to Lisbon or own property on it. It's silly we have an overchlorinated city pool next to a beautiful fresh water river. Really??? It should go right down next to kids kingdom on the land for sale! Couldn't have a more perfect spot. Park. Walking distance. Beach. Come on City Council

We use to have a decnt city beach, what happened to it? Sometimes people would much rather be on the river enjoying themselves than sitting ina fenced in area such as the city pool surrounded by so many people. I know as a kid I loved going to the beach,I would take the bus with my friends and spend the whole day.It was great! I have no idea why they closed it down, but there was alot of room to swim and have fun. I think it would be a good thing if they opend a beach back up.

Location, Location, Location. That location out by the bridge & port bldg. would not do. It is to remote. They would have to bus kids in. May as well bus them to Lisbon then. Somewhere between wheathouse bay and where they do the war reanactement would be ideal.

a city beach would be great. lets utilize that great river. but if they did that, they wouldn't be able to rape the tax payers for the upkeep on that farce of a pool. this summer must have cost a fortune to keep that pool stabilized, chemicels are not cheap by any means. the hotter the weather and the hotter the sun sucks out the chems and who pays for that my fellow tax payers? sure isn't the folks from belmont is it?

<quoted text>How do the people in belmont get out of paying sales tax? Who cares who pays for it it, it is for the children to enjoy. Damm you whine like a little bitch. You think you got a hot topic going then decide to take a shot at belmont, how immuture, can a person get. All you did was bring up the word beach, so you could take a slam at belmont. Well boo hoo for you. You are acting like you and only you pay taxes, get over yourself. How about this, close the pool and forget about a beach, that river is so polluted, I wouldn't want my kids to swim in it, and no I don't let them go to lisbon either. Yes people in belmont do pay taxes, Sales tax, Sales tax, Sales tax. Now come back and bitch about that.
That river is one of the cleanest in the country. No, it's not 100% pure water, but given the choice between swimming in a constantly flowing fresh water source like our beautiful river and swimming in an over-chlorinated, chemical filled pool that's packed to capacity, I'll pick the river any day. You have fun at the pool.

hey nothing but, noone said a word about sales tax.We are talking property tax, school tax, income taxes. who do you think pays to keep that pool in operation?? thought I would just come back with that. you don't obviously have a clue how the working taxpayer is sucked dry. too bad we can't live as cheaply as the winners at belmont estate. I have to go back to work now, so you enjoy your day filled with nothing. okay?????

People using the welfare system pay the least amount of taxes imaginable. Any taxes on food (soda, candy, prepared deli) is taken off before the ebt card is swiped. Anything else paid with money collected from their state welfare check? The STATE pays the taxes which comes from the people that work in NYS.

Nobody pays taxes on food, unless it is prepared. 7 cents is not added to a loaf of bread.

Did you notice the stuff in parenthesis? Soda, candy, prepared deli. They don't even pay the bottle deposit on soda. But they get cash when they bring them back. There are lots of people using state money to sugar their kids up and pick up a sub instead of actually buying real food or making their own sandwiches.

No way, do I believe, that you worked on labor day, and came home on your lunch break, and spent your last few minutes of it on topix. So thanks for letting me know that the only people who count in this town are the people who own thier own home. Renters don't know anything. SO SELL YOUR HOUSE STUPID. Then you wouldn't have to pay those taxes that you are bitching about. If you think for one second that landlords do not add all of those Taxes into the cost of rent, when they rent it,--- well I will just leave that, right there. And let's not forget the part where the landlord has to make his fair share. Hell, if you don't own, then you shouldn't even be allowed to vote.
