Judge in interracial marriage case quits

A Louisiana justice of the peace who drew criticism for refusing to marry an interracial couple has resigned, the secretary of state's office said Tuesday.

When a person stands up for his/her convictions, it should be understood that there could be fallout as a result. When Bardwell took it upon himself to refuse to fulfill his obligation as a justice of the peace and marry the interracial couple, the ensuing consequences were to be expected—lose of a job and a suit brought against him and his wife. For him it must have been worth it.

Yup, gotta admire a man who stands up for convictions of his constituents...except maybe when he's a bigot standing up for bigots.

Too bad he didn't quit long before now. If his convictions tell him not to marry inter racial couples, he should never have accepted the position of a judge in the first place. The law says this couple can marry. Of course, most judges think they are God anyhow.
