I will vote no because our great state will not give our poor county any new jobs, but they sure want to give us more new taxes if we vote it in.

They can spend 6 million for a "new" field but cannot afford armed deputies at each school. Typically, these "administrators" have their priorities wrong.

The superintendent has the money to encourage "fresh produce" for the lunch program which is a gigantic give a way. I guess those varieties of winter tomatoes must be extra nice. Very little garden items could be produced during the school session. This man has his head up his ass.

The problem is everyone can vote on the Bond, but only those owning prorerty will pay the tax. I am barely keeping my head above water now, I can't afford anymore taxes. Maybe would not be bad if it were for school buildings only, and not for sports.

When the famous School Board Authority gives these counties money to build these new schools why can't they just go ahead and give them enough money for completing everything. Most West Virginia are burden down by having to pay high taxes that we are sick of it. If the Levy is passed I guess I will have to pay higher taxes towards a 5 or 6 million dollar football field that I will never be allowed to walk upon because someone from Hamlin may think my shoes are to dirty. Really Lincoln County High School might just want to consider canceling their football program because they will never be competitive with the more established AAA schools in this area.Sure they may play some AA schools and win, but it looks like the trend will continue for many years to come. Why would I want to come to see a weak AAA school like Lincoln County play in a 5 or 6 million dollar football stadium. More area people would attend a dog racing event than to see the Panthers trying to win against local AAA schools. New Stadium-Bologna!

They're for ever more wanting to raise our taxes for something. Please vote NO. We pay enough taxes as it is.

if you vote no nothing can be done for like 10 years to the schools and many could be closed for being unsafe....do you want children havein to have school all the time in those trailer classrooms? I do not that is for sure...times are hard but it wont hurt you as much as you might think

a consolidating elementary schools in eastern lincoln county?! SURELY NOT AGAIN!

i don't know how many schools lincoln county had back in the day, but in 1993.. there were woodville(alkol), griffithsville, and midway elementary schools. but that year, martin elementary closed-kids went from bulger road area to woodville. garretts bend elemantary closed-kids went to griffithsville. mccorkle elementary closed-kids went to midway.

well in 1997, woodville was closed and kids were sent to mostly midway, some to griffithsville. now this new idiotic plan wants to send all the elementary kids to sumerco for a new school--no mention of the middle school kids at duval/midway.

WHY KEEP CONSOLIDATING?!

yes we all want new, better, safer schools.. but we don't want them all consolidated! just rebuild schools on the same sites! the 'education' in this county will be the same no matter if the kids went to harts high if it still existed or new lincoln county high because the TEACHERS SUCK. my grammar is a prime example. sure, there's a bunch of good ones, but i bet half of my teachers just 'gave' grades, and most probably still do. didn't teach anything useful. more interested in teaching shakespeare rather than teaching me i-saw/have seen grammar--my gf taught me that.

heck, if i was a kid now and lived where i did went i went to grade school, i would have about a 20 minute bus ride 1 way. that's not including stops. i used to be at my school in literally 1 minute after leaving my house! and i had it good! think about the kids that live in mud river. it takes them a half hour almost just to get out of there.

i was a 10 minute drive from duval, and now i bet it's a good half hour for a bus drive to hamlin high-not counting stops. it's sad that i can be to scott high school and back in the time it takes me just to get to hamlin high school.

yes, we need money. but we don't want consolidation. what we need is UNconsolidation.(not sure what the real word is).

here's what they SHOULD do:
step 1- build NEW 'griffithsville' elementary, wherever it needs to be out of flood zone(maybe on former site, just 10 feet higher).

step 2- move duval elementary/middle kids into new school.

step 3- renovate/update duval. tear down annex, build onto building, remove portable classrooms, buy out lions club field and fix up that property for athletics.

step 4- take duval kids out of 'lincoln county' high and move the school zone so more kids would go to duval.

LCHS now becomes a AA school! yay, maybe become competitive in sports! duval kids can now have a better ride to school and have a chance at being in sports/activities! and they'll have a better school with the renovation! yay everything!

because i've not seen any hamlin or guyan valley people complaining about bus rides in the last 7 years, i bet they don't really care if they have their old high schools back.

*split west hamlin elementary into 2 schools. reopen old closed schools, whatever they want. i'm not from that part of the county, but west hamlin elementary is TOO BIG.

*finally finish HARTS. again, not from there, but finish that school.

*rename lincoln county high to HAMLIN. because that's what it really is and has been ever since lloyd jackson had the state school board take over and force consolidation upon us.

HAMLIN HIGH DOESN'T NEED NEW ATHLETIC FACILITIES, THEY HAVE THEM ACROSS THE ROAD!
