He doesn't. He signed the Lilly Ledbetter Act.<quoted text>
Can you explain why the Democratic President has women working for him who get paid less than the men? Sending people out money and food stamps is not helping them and you know it. How many programs have been started that actually help get these people off of welfare? I am all for helping people but it should only be for a short period of time. We also need to strongly look into disability claims.
Programs that get people off welfare are education, training and jobs programs. The GOP has blocked or cut funding for all three in the past 5 years alone.
And our welfare program is the single, largest profit generator this country has. It frees us to take risks others cannot. Small businesses (85 percent of all US employment) wouldn't be started in this country at the scale they are if the risk of failure meant starvation.
Most people on welfare are working and over 90 percent of people receiving assistance are off the program within 5 years (70 percent within 3 years).
You're duped. The poor aren't the problem with this country's economy. But the people who DO damage our economy certainly want you to think they are. They want you to keep your anger and frustration pointed downward instead of upward. Because if we all pointed it at the rich who offshore cache, lobby for loopholes and outsource everything, changes would happen and they wouldn't benefit the rich. They'd benefit the nation.
