Tis truly a sad day. And a much sadder world.
I did not know, Mrs. Wafer, having only met her several years ago when I was asked to write an article for the Marlboro Herald-Advocate about an outside the box project she was undertaking as she sought to ignite the imagination of her students. But once met, Joan was someone you didnt soon forget. Her enthusiasm for her chosen task was exceptional - not to mention quite contagious. I recall thinking at the time how lucky we were to have someone like her interacting with our kids. Im certain there are students who will enjoy later success simply and pretty much solely -- because of how Joan related to them.
Thats not a bad legacy to leave behind.
I did not know Joan was ill, Kay. Thanks for your simple post, which has allowed me to, hopefully, honor her with these few words.
Thank you, and rest well, Mrs. Wafer; your spirit and passion will live on.
