Really? I thought the current recession was due to the Dems in Congress forcing banks to make loans to idiots that couldn't afford them. This recession is the result of a tremendous failure in Liberal social engineering, and it's a shame the media don't emphasize this fact.
really JiB? and when would that have been? and when did this liberal social engineering begin? i'm not being combative i'm just trying to get the facts upon which your comment is based

So much judgment on this topic. I leave the judging to the Father.

Go work at the pantries, see the brothers and sisters. See their pain, hear their suffering. Make a difference like Jesus. Help them get training, education, childcare, jobs, hope and faith.

We call to you in the precious name of Christ Jesus

The Community Reinvestment Act, supported by Democrats, encouraged banks to make loans to lower income (thus riskier) individuals. IMO, it was the spark that ignited the fire of irresponsible lending. We're all now being forced to pay dearly for the poor policy choices made by a few arrogant policymakers.

I use the term "social engineering" because it's a practice that liberals are fond of. Liberals hate to allow the private sector or individuals do anything independently. They always seek to "engineer" what they feel are better solutions. It's an arrogant practice, and it's been going on since the days of FDR.

The folly of Compact Fluorescent Lightbulbs are one example. They represent an obvious cost advantage, but have technical and quality problems, as well as contain mercury. Some have adopted the energy-saving bulbs, but most remain skeptical. Does the burden of higher energy costs outweigh the risk of mercury in the home? Do I believe the bulb represents a good investment? Will it really last for as long as it claims? These decisions are mundane individual judgements. The Democratic Congress has decided that we as individuals should have no say in the matter, requiring the phased-in use of CFLs by law.

The need for the food pantry is due to a 4-6 week delay when you try to get assistance from the ODJFS. It takes too much time to qualify people. Also some people are not qualifying and can't make ends meet because they don't live in section 8 housing and are trying to make end meet. No one in this country should ever go hungry. If their is some question then a ODJFS should assist these folks in personal money management and budgeting. Maybe you even have a job and your car broke down and you just barely make enough to live off - then what???

do you mean the law that was initially passed in 1977? or was there an amendment to it sometime during the 1990s that you are referring to? would you not agree that the rampant practice of allowing borrowers with no down payment and little credit to have interest-only loans a contributor as well?

I workk for the ODJFS. If you provided all the necessary verifications which are requested, yo can get food assistance in 3-5 days.
