I believe that all "highly qualified" teachers need a daily breathalyzer a day; keep them from buying drugs and alcohol from the students. Frankly with today's administrators a few drinks is what is needed to get through the day.

Personally I don't know how people can work with today's crop of kids every day sober...

My son's 7th grade Civics teacher in Suffolk hit the bottle on a regular basis. He and another student saw her "spike" her "soda" frequently and the smell on her breath. So, I am not surprised. Teachers should be tested!

If parents took control of their rude and out of control kids then maybe the teachers wouldn't need to drink!!

Back in the early 60's I attended a Catholic Military school in Richmond, VA. Several of my teachers (priests) were drunk every day. This is nothing new.

I am NOT for teachers drinking or using drugs but if we are to test teachers then we need to test engineers, pilots, nurses, doctors, Cub Scout leaders, pastors, priests, STUDENTS...get the hint! |

I challenge parents to come to the school and see how their darlings behave!!! They would be shocked. |

Why do we hold teachers to a higher standard than we hold ourselves? It's all right for the parents to get drunk and/or use drugs however those same parents want to hold the teacher to a higher set of standards. I was once at a party and a parent who was the president of the "Just Say No" program at school was sitting on the couch smoking a joint.

There is like this attitude that school are babysitting factories instead of places of learning.
Most parents because of this article and ones like that refuse to believe their kids are the monsters they are, thus they respond as it's a personal attack when they receive the report their kids are out of control. It's a no win situation in public facilities in this region. God help the adult that one of those wayward children accuse of some misdeed and the allegations are false. |

They know what words to use or say. They see it all the time in movies etc. I'm not saying that some of it isn't factual; but there seems to be a lot of it going on.

true nothing new here. It is just that everything that deals with children and the school system has to lead. It is kinda like the old saying "if it bleeds it leads".

how about this: we test every parent that drops off a kid, every kid, PRINCIPALS, deans, nurses, all kids etc. Those stats would baffle the mind. The teacher is guilty, but get real, drugs are all over every campus.

The woman in question is a relative of mine. She has had alot of problems in her personal life the last couple of years. While it was ultimately wrong what she did she is not what the press made her out to be. She comes from a very good family & she has always been a good person. Like everyone in life she hit a few bumps along the way. Please instead pray for her to get help so she can get her life back on track.
