They want to have another "public hearing" concerning a road plan.Let's remember many citizens spoke in opposition at local government "public hearings"; what happened? Passed anyway.Let's also have "lobbyist only hearings" and hold in a public forum. Then, the public will see first hand how the system really works.

It's nice they will be here, but will they have their hearing aids turned on?

If you think anything constructive will happen at thie "public hearing" then i have a bridge for you. First up Stall's evrything is fro free crowd will show up and demand no revenue increases. Stall won't be there because as usual after a embarrasing loss to a liberal democrat in a overwhelming republican district she is in hiding. Crazy Cary will be there with her following of nuts demanding accountability and ask the legislators to lower the real estate tax rate.(she hasnt figured out that the state officials don't have anything to do with that. Don't let a few facts get in the way..(what happened to her promise to move if Stall didn' win) LIAR. The whole transportation problem should be turned over to a new bunch of wackos led by Gear. Mike Wade and Atticus "lunatic" bowden have developed a plan that takes care of all our woes for free. Thats right free. If we can collect the back taxes from Gear and Mike Wade maybe we can at least build a decent intersection. These guys hold themselves out as conservatives when all they really are is filanderers.

I know that the crossing arms at the interstate ramps are for evacuation purposes BUT---- What is up with all of the road crossing "arms" along all of the exit and entrance ramps along the interstates?? What a terrific waste of taxes...I have seen two for one end of many ramps and then 50 feet away two more for the other end of the same ramp...4 crossing arms for one ramp...are you trying to prevent a tank from passing??

I have also seen multiple examples of wasted crossing arms on ramps leading from the beach..what for?? to prevent people from leaving the beach during a hurricane?

How much does one crossing arm cost and installation??

Could the news papers please inform the public of this one small fact so we can multiply it by the number of these wasted arms we see when we drive down our excellent highway system that needs no other form of improvement!

Stupid people keep thinking we need to raise taxes to fix our roads. We need to fix VDOT. VDOT is the major cause of our problems. Watch construction teams - only a few guys working. Their fixes don't last. Their process is totally wrong. These crossing arms that were installed - at a cost of millions - what the hell? Wasted money over and over again. So many transportation improvements can be made simply by going to states with excellent road systems and adopting those laws - keeping all trucks in the right hand lanes all the time - that works great in so many states.

are you 13? do you really think that eliminating the crossing arms would even build a decent off ramp. we are billions behind in improvements and you want to fund it with this? I guess you would prefer a hurricane evacuation like what happened with Katrina to VDOT trying to set up a system that could possibly save lives. you need to go back and look at the aerial photos from the interstates where Katrina hit and then thanks God VDOT has at least attempted to make the next evacuation better and more orderly. Folks in Williamsburg don't need to flee. thats why the gates keep people from the uplands from crowding the interstate so you dummies from southside hampton roads can get out alive.

Let's see. Gas prices are at an all time high, and we allegedly need wider roads, more bridges, etc. Can anyone in all of Virginia come up with a plan that will kill two birds with one stone?

Apparently Gov Kaine is not interested. My email to his office was ignored.

I will be there tonight.

Hopefully we can convince the General Assembly to cast aside the outdated MPO plan for "6 projects" in favor of developing a plan that would actually reduce traffic congestion for those targeted to pay for the highway improvements.

The port is a state-owned assett. Let the profits from the port expansion pay for the $4.3B 3rd Crossing and the $2.1B "new" RT 460 highway to move port trucks in and out of our region.

Let's add some much needed lane capacity to the over crowded HRBT.

HB 3202 funded an inadequate plan for actually addressing our region's commuter traffic congestion needs.

you need a lesson in economics. Your plan to make the port pay for everything would simply make them non-competitive and in turn ruin the economy for Hampton Roads. from your earlier postings i know you accept no one's ideas that don't agree with yours but you are so narrow minded I suspect most folks see you for what you are. What difference does it make to someone that complains about everything and critisizes everyone if things ever get better. I suspect you would fall in the who cares catagory along with your idol Tom "can't pay my taxes" Gear.

A couple of things:
1. I can't go to my employer and ask for more money just because I want something. So, delegates your out if you vote to tax me.
2. No matter how many lanes or crossings that are put into place, until people learn how to drive, traffic will always be messed up. If anyone has had the pleasure of driving in CA or Northern Virginia you know what I'm talking about. I495 through Northern Virginia with 4-6 lanes can be just as backed up as our little two lane I64 when you get somebody who is going slower than the speed limit or someone who wants to go faster than the speed limit. You can't fix stupid with tax dollars!

YES! How many times have you seen traffic backed up because people can't merge? Why can't HR residents figure out this simple concept?
