A man traveling through the region with a horse, mule and dog has captured the attention of many in recent days.
Bryan Brant rode through Hamilton last week and is currently on his way through the Miami Valley.
Hamilton resident Karen Johnson met him recently at a Tractor Supply store on Ohio 4 in Liberty Twp. She spoke with him today, and he told her he was on his way to Yellow Springs.
Johnson says he is from Kansas.
He was resting there, Johnson said of when she met him at the store.I made a special trip to go meet him.
Johnson said she wanted to meet Brant after friends told her they spotted him traveling in town. She wanted to know his purpose for traveling across the country with the animals.
Johnson would not go into detail about the visit with Brant, saying others need to visit with him to hear the story. She called him interesting and inspiring.
I wish I could be like him, she said.
Brant is riding by faith, according to his voicemail message on his mobile phone.
Reports from other sources indicate Brant started his journey June 12 in Illinois. He traveled along the Mississippi River.
He is headed to New York and on to Canada, passing through Ohio to get there.
Brants mission, according to those sources, is to promote the idea of horse travel and prevention of horse genocide. His destination is an Indian reservation in Brantford, Ontario, a site important to his familys heritage.
His horses name is Abbey. The mule is Jack and the dog is Pepper.
Some who have encountered Brant have provided him with necessities. His animals graze about every mile, according to various sources.
The JournalNews has left messages with Brant to find out more about his journey.

Must be nice to be able to pick up and do whatever you want to do. Most of us would not be able to do this if we wanted to and if we did we would lose everything we have.
I do not know his story only what I read in the journal. More power to him.
It would be nice to have the option.
