This story is ridiculous. I have been a loyal fan of channel 4 for years but will no longer watch this station. What a waste of news time. This is nobody's business. Think of all the family members that have been hurt because of this story. Disgusting, irresponsible journalism. Obviously these people should have been grandfathered in if this policy is brand new. Sad!

Time to merge the police force with the Town of Hamburg force......SAVE $$$$$, like Angola did, and get less administration conflicts.....In fact get rid of the village all together and no more village tax.

i agree with maria....the chief should be grandfathered in....the clause......

look at all the husband wife teams at channel four...you have a producer married to a photog...lorey shultz is married to the operations manager who just got fired; another photographer married kathy straitiff....who took the photog's last name of swenson...she has since moved on...etc.....

like i said...grandfather them in....the clause... chances are the woman will move on

I agree. Who cares. They have a relationship. I do not believe that is a reason to lay him off without pay... What a crock!

These type of stories seem to be the "norm" now days. Incomplete, porly written and sometimes done in poor taste. It's sad that the only reasaon to pay attention to ch.4 is for Don Paul.

I agree with another reader, lets merge the Villages of Hamburg & Blasdell with the Town of Hamburg and save money, as North Collins is doing. Many services are already provided by the Town.> Bldg. inspection and more.

He's married! I feel very sorry for his wife and I hope that making a spectacle of him makes all cheaters consider the consequeces. His family and all of Hamburg must be mortified.

The chief has been sleeping with his secretary, who a few years ago was selected to go to the police academy. She passed (with the help of the instructors) and became a village cop. The married chief continued his relationship with the now subordinate cop. The cop was given cushy assignments and picked for special details even though she didn't have enough seniority. Basically, most people know about this relationship (even his wife) and he had to move out of the house a few months ago. He just moved back in after “ending” the relationship. No matter what, you can’t have the boss sleeping with the workers. If the relationship ended bad, she'd end up suing for emotional distress. The village will be better off with the Captain in charge.

He is often seen with a female officer in social situations. It seemed a little strange in a small town. Maybe they were just friends and his wife knew. Maybe she did not? Everyone else saw him and wondered?

The bosses in the court system sleep with their employees...so if that agency does it..it must be OK for all the others..since the judiciary is the ultimate respectable entity in the nation!

All righty then! The post from the village of Hamburg sums it all up and who knew what, when and who was doing who. Appreciate all the "in the know information" Forget emotional distress, doesn't the rule also apply to her? Why isn't she also suspended? Should be the same for the doer, doee or vice versa.
