Teacher, scout leader accused of soliciting sex with minor

I just can't believe that he was my sixth grade teacher! When I heard the news, I was shocked. Especially because he was one ot those nerdy teachers. And I had a feeling that he was gay. I knew there was something going on with him. I go to Frontier and this teacher wasn't the first do something nasty-it was the fourth. Whatever moral outrage this man's activities may elicit, on an emotive level, in the general public, the possible sentence of 35 years is nonetheless disproportionate to the act. He would probably be sentenced to less time had he arranged to kill the boy instead. Such a legal stance is ludicrous, and suggests some form of moral scapegoating rather than careful consideration of the impact of his "crimes".

Ask yourself a few simple questions.

Does a thirteen year old boy (most of them) want to have sex?

Do thirteen year old boys (many of them) have sex with someone?

Every time a thirteen year old boy has sex with someone, do you want to put someone (sometimes the thirteen year old boy) in prison?

If a thirteen year old boy can consent to have sex with another thirteen year old (legal in some states) why can’t he consent to have sex with older persons?

The notion that an adolescent boy is harmed by consensual sexual activity is preposterous. It is ridiculous on the face of it. If he is harmed it is by the reaction of his parents and law enforcement.

This is a society that glorifies teenage sexuality.

There have been a lot of additional studies that disprove Bruce Rind studies. But I think Raymond D. Fowler, PhD, chief executive officer of American Psychological Association, which published Rind’s findings, comments say it all. Here is what he had to say “Clearly, the article included opinions of the authors that are inconsistent with APA's stated and deeply held positions on child welfare and protection issues," “It is the position of the association that sexual activity between children and adults should never be considered or labeled as harmless or acceptable...children cannot consent to sexual activity with adults."

I was a scout once. There were some realy cool dads that went on weekend trips w/ us. But summer camp, we had this freaky guy, Sablick that watched us.
