You reap what you sew. I'm sure your ex-girlfriend had a good reason for kicking you out.

I must admit Things in life rarely go the way we all would like, and for some they don't even know what that means,
I am a semieducated middle class whie male, I am not homeless but have known a few, what i've read here still doesn't Begin to say where we are at, yes I wish i could put everyone on my shoulders and help, Do i feel bad when I pass some one home less, or do i feel good when i have fed a homeless person is irrelevant. the fact remains that today 85% of all of us are 2 paychecks from this reality is very true, we cannot wait for someone to care I say that when we are down is when we should reach out and help those that think they have, wouldn't that be a slap of reality. we are all children of our higher power we all bleed red, we all seek love, does anyone share those feelings anymore?
life will forever knock us down we are the only ones who must purcevere and triumph in the face of agony and self pity. I dare any of you who read this to stop and help someone who is less than you stand for a moment and let them find there way back into the light, it's not whether it can happen People, It MUST HAPPEN

Does it occur to the people at Sun-Sentinel.com that homeless people will not be looking up shelter listings on their Dell Notebooks?
Even homeless people can use the public libraries and have access to the 'net. When my family became homeless (and alot more FAMILIES will now in this economy), they got help for me on the 'net.

It's foster "care" that needs more attention and debate than whether or not governments should run homeless shelters. I think both would be better run privately than by governments - local, state, or national.

What hardships have blacks suffered? The last 5 generations have lived off welfare, that's actually all they've ever known - a free ride
Actually more whites use the welfare system than blacks, so please do your research before you judge. Its the media that only flashes pictures of black people when welfare is involved. Statisics show due to the fact that the whites are the majority they eat up way more welfare than the blacks by far. Your ignorance is not surprising, obviously instead of you relying on factual data and are too lazy to find out for yourself, therefore you make comments like these. Clearly you are a shallow person.

Take the overall percentage of blacks and then take the percentage of blacks on some form of goverment assistance and there are the real numbers dude. Try and stay off the liberal path it makes you sound like an idiot

Anyone can log on as anyone and say anything. I doubt Frangrante Delicto's second post was anything but a sham but the homeless voice people.

I've glossed over these posts and seen my story here a couple of times. I am 64 and will be needing a shelter or some form of assissted living. I am now going on 4 months of no meds that have been prescribed to me. No ins. cannot afford the doctors visit much less the meds. I remember being in San Francisco in the 1970's and seeing all of the homeless and being taken back by the staggering numbers of people who slept in doorways to stores in the different districts there in S.F..
I'll bet those numbers are miniscule by comparison today. The will to live is so powerful that even when I look for an ending to it all just find relief from pain and depression, I getup and go take the next step.

You are so correct there are more whites at shelters, one reason, that being in jails and prisons isn't considered being homeless, so check how many blacks are in those places,

It sure would be nice to see more people helping these homeless folks. I was realy glad to hear that Coral Ridge Presbyterian and other churces are doing just that. Someone reported that they fed a lot of people this past week. I'm hoping to get involved.

HOW would you know this? Don't lump all homeless with a few.
Your general distain comes shining through.
Contrary to popular belief, homeless don't have to have drug, alcohol or mental issues to become homeless.
Sometimes, they lose their jobs and everything else.
Most people live 1 or 2 paychecks away from homelessness.
Sometimes, it's due to catastrophic illness or injury where they are no longer able to pay for treatment and living expenses.
People just don't think it could ever happen to them.
If they don't have family who can help them, they end up homeless.
People really do think they have all the control over their lives until one day they wake up and it's all starting to unravel.
Don't be so smug as to think it can't happen to you.
It can.
Hope it never does. But, it can.
I agree. I am close to being homeless and I have a 12 year old son. I can't find work and my mother can't stand having my son around her any longer. In addition, I have not rec'd any child support in the past 4 months. It's sad. I used to make about 70K a year and I am at my wits end now looking for a shelter to live in. I am embarrased and don't know how I'm going to tell my son.

I saw a homeless person the other day. How can they afford to smoke?

It's funny that Mary thinks whites paying into the welfare system with their tax money is considered using it

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Aquarius

You're eager to have a good time, and nothing less will do; you'll soon put your work to one side and start to enjoy yourself instead. If you're going to a social event that you've been looking forward to for ages, try to keep a firm grip on your expectations in case reality falls far short of them. Be especially realistic if you've got high hopes of love and romance.
