I met Mark Bishop in 1981 in Panama City Florida. I worked for his mother and father in law at the Shalimar Hotel. I attended Faith Christan Fellowship and helped Mark with the radio broadcast doing the voiceover for the weekly radio show. The church had only about 75-100 members. I am saddened to hear of this news. I know this for sure, Mark is a born again believer who made some bad choices. Who doesn't? His choices did effect his family and church. One thing is for sure, God is still on the throne and loves Mark deeply just like he does everyone else. If this is true then he probably needs to step down from leadership but needs fellow believers help and prayer.
Yes, we ALL make bad choices throughout our lives. But God holds Pastors to a higher standard, and they are accountable for where they lead thier flock. I am quite sure that everyone who knows Mark hopes and prays that he pulls his life together and gets through his troubles and can move on living a life for Christ. But I don't believe it is as simple as saying, "he made some bad choices-who doesn't". You would have had to be around for the last year or so to see how badly some members were directly treated, lied to, lied about, manipulated, the list goes on and on. But with that said, I pray for him every day, and now that his mother is in poor health, I pray for her and the family as well. God is all about forgivness, but in the wake of the damage path that has been left at FCFC, it is going to be difficult for many. But like they say, time heals all wounds. The worst part of all this is that a great church has been destroyed. We have tried other churches since our departure from FCFC, and there just isnt anything out there that compares to the OLD Faith Christian. Alot of us feel like our church home was stolen from us, and now we have been left homeless. But we can't let one bad experience destroy our walk with God.

Is there no church discipline in this church? Mark should be removed from membership. IMO, the membership has a responsibility to hold Mark accountable.

Mark owns the church, so basically he has nobody to answer to except God. Although I have alot of issues with mark, I have decided to let it go. I realized this week that life is too short to hold on to the past. Marks mother died earlier this week, and I feel for him an all of his family. Holding on to anger just makes you an angry person, and frankly, I am tired of feeling like this over this subject. I am still hurt, But I forgive Mark, and everyone else involved. I hope others can too.

I agree, it's time to let it go. It was never anger I was holding onto. I was more in shock and disbelief that he could live two lives. I noticed the church sign the other day says, "It's gonna be alright." I hope for the sake of the FCFC family that's left that those words hold true.

I saw that sign on Sunday morning. Ironically, there weren't more than 15 cars in the lot at 1030. I am not sure exactly what will be alright, but I hope also that it holds true.

so i've heard that he no longer wants to be called pastor markus - but a life coach or something...seems odd to me.

I have not heard that. But that does seem odd. I would think that he would be seeing a life coach, not being one, at least until he gets his own life in order. Either way, I do hope that things work out for him. He really is a likable guy.

I'm glad to hear he doesn't want to be called "Pastor." I haven't called him that in a VERY long time. As far as being a "life coach" ...he's no coach I'd want.

If he doesn't want to be called Pastor, he needs to step down. This is something he shouldd have done a long time ago. Fine if he has been forgiven, he just doesn't need to be in the pulpit anymore.

I saw an ad today for a seminar that is going to be given at FCFC for "How to Fireproof" your marraige. I can't help but wonder who is going to be leading that class. It needs to be someone who is in a long term successful marraige, which counts out Mark. Although "Fireproof" is an excellent movie which I have seen more than once, I would recommend that you rent or buy it and watch it yourself. Its self explanitory. And, that way you know exactly where your money went.

Our church is considering the hiring of John Wagner but have concerns after simply googling his name and discovering what seems like a rocky history. Can anyone tell me if indeed he left his church in 2003 because 1. he was having an affair and 2. to also form and begin a new church? We've been told that it was his ex-wife that had an affair and he left this church to reconcile his life. Conflicting reports! Help

We are considering the hiring of John Wagner. But after just googling his name, I am shocked to discover what seems to be a rocky past. Can anyone tell me if he left his church in 2003 because 1. he was indeed having an affair and 2. he was forming and starting a new church, Church of Abundant Grace????
We've been led to believe it was his ex-wife's extra marital affair(s) that led to the divorce and that he was exiting the church to reconcile his life. Too many conflicting stories - help!

WARNING: This is a pack of lies...look deeper! John and Ilena Wagner are adulterers...both were married, John to Margie (Wagner) Bishop, aka, Mrs. Markus Bishop. Ilena was married to a church member, who trusted John, and was devastated at the turn of events, as was Margie. Ilena was a singer on the worship team, and when the worship leader wondered what was happening, he confronted John Wagner. The worship leader was gone the same week. Yes, John did attempt to start a church name "The Church of Abundant Grace", but the attempt was unsuccessful. Don't fall for this pack of lies...John was the pastor of Christ the Rock Community Church in Cooper City, Florida. He was booted out when his sin was revealed, and he wasn't happy abbout it. It's a shame, because at one time he was a vibrant, charismatic preacher. He has apparently not yet repented for his sin. May God have mercy on him. None of this response is not backed up by factual information.

The ONLY reason I would post anything is because John, or whoever told you that it was Margie's "affairs" caused the divorce is a complete liar. Ilena was a worship team member who was not "happy" in her marriage and she began to seek "counsel" from Pastor John. John decided to "help" her personally and it took off from there. I will never forget how I felt the day Ilena's husband found out Pastor John was having an affair, but did not know it was with his wife (yet). The despair on that man's face was overwhelming. John did start a new church when he was removed from his position. Now, an adulterer, living in sin (not even married yet) he began a church (very appropriately named) "Abundant Grace"... It is all very sad since John is one of the most amazingly engaging, and gifted speakers I have ever heard. However, if he or whoever said this lie has the nerve to lie this way...who needs the gifted speaking? Even Satan can preach a great message. We need to start trusting God, that He CAN turn the humble and upright, character filled man into an anointed preacher, rather than believe and hope and pray with all our hearts that he can change the serial sinner into a man of character...

But, then, we chose to hope the wrong way because we are concerned with numbers. Please think Gideon...

All of that being said, if it WAS NOT him who said this lie about Margie, and if you confront him and he is honest, I believe he is worthy of another chance...

I believe God loves John and that all God wants is complete repentance. John is very much like David when he walks in repentance. There are many great things to learn from John. He just cannot continue to lie.

So sad is 100% correct. God does love John. However, there are consequences for sin, and I have yet to see a man who has committed adultery restored to his prior 'glory'. The fall out from this sin was very great. And there will one day be a great reckoning. Do you really want a pastor who destroyed his own flock? I suggest that the entire congregation pray and fast before agreeing to taking on this man.

John Wagner needs to get out of MINISTRY! For many reasons it appears that he has never truly repented of his sin - sin which caused many people to endure pain and suffering, most of all his ex-wife and daughter! God loves him and forgives him, but I cannot imagine him going anywhere in a church organization with his current foul-mouthed bride at his side!

As a staff member at the time of John's departure from Christ the Rock Community Church, I can absolutely confirm that he left as a result of having an affair with a member of the worship team/wife of present. He would have stayed and continued with the new woman but was not given the opportunity and quickly started a church within a mile of CRCC (which failed).

The fallout from John and Ilena Wagner's sin has had a ripple effect, and destroyed the lives of untold numbers of people who loved and trusted John Wagner, and nearly destroyed the entire congregation. He will answer to God one day for his actions, as will Jezebel, errr, I mean Ilena, who set her sights on him, and reeled him in like a bass on a hook. It is not too surprising that his ego might allow him to think his sin won't be revealed, but welcome to the 21st century, and the information age!! While his audacity smacks in the face of common sense, God will not be mocked. Perhaps you should try a different line of work, Mr. & Mrs. Wagner...."The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception." Proverbs 14:8
