Why are they giving my tax money to a developer? Just look around at the other malls ,there are vacant stores everywhere. No wonder my taxes are so high...giveaways

Do Hallandale city commisioners live in the same country and world that I live in? In what way does giving away tax revenue seem like a smart decision considering decreased tax revenue coming in?

Hello! Housing prices are decreasing 15% or more per year. This causes a direct impact to city budgets via property tax.

Sales tax revenue is decreasing each and every month. Look at retail sales and automobile sales. Yeah, it's bad out there!

Now, lets look at the developments highlights. They have 1500 condos and 70 retail stores.

So, considering that housing and retail sales are putting up dismal numbers, how does any of this seem like a good idea?

Another thing...take a drive around South Florida and count the empty retail stores and commercial plazas. More commercial space is not exactly needed right now.

typical waste from governments. Business always gets the breaks, never the tax payer. Businesses grease politicians pockets..it's business as usual in South Florida, the most corrupt area in the US..

According to their website Crate and Barrel is leaving Aventura Mall and going to Gulfstream Park. I guess they will selling their overpriced dishes and placements in a dustbowl for a while.

Exactly. I was at Coconut Creek's new Promenade last week, multiple empty stores and Talbots is rumored to be closing there. I am sure other stores there (think the overpriced Sur La Table where everything there is sold at Target for 25% less) will be closing soon too.

Same at Pembroke Pines' new mall.

What a joke. Hallandale is too close to Aventura anyway , there really is no excess capacity for all this retail.

And now Davie trying to stuff Davie Commons down our throat. LOL!!!!

So the New York retirees can cause more traffic jams, drive poorly, have a new venue in which to be obnoxious, and spend their Social Security checks? I guess I would not mind as much were they (1) polite, and (2) not collecting many times more than they ever paid into the system.

Who would want to live and shop in Hallandale Beach?

Obviously, the timing of this entire project is pretty bad.

Okay, let's pat ole boy London on the back for not wanting progress and sitting their while the city goes down the toilet. You people sicken me with this follow the loser mentality. Once again, why is it that London is always the loser? Does he not get it? He will NEVER, EVER, EVER WIN!!!!!!!!! 4-1 last week...3-1 last night. He has only a few people who care enough to support him, and soon they will be sick of losing on every vote. Go ahead, pull this quote out and tell me how London is looking out for the taxpayers, but just like he always does, he will lose. He's a loser, and will always been one..........

You must be the developer's mother.

Wow we need retail space badly in south florida. This is going to be another white elephant. Maybe the space can be used to house homeless people once obama's policy get the greater depression going.

Daily Horoscope for January 1

Libra

Happy New Year, Libra!. How's that poor old body feeling this morning?! If you're having a gathering, include casual acquaintances or newcomers as if they were one of the family. You're a real social animal and you know how to put people at their ease. This is a wonderful talent: not only do you have a network of friends and social contacts, as well as business ones, but you have the ability to bring others together. Perhaps you should start a dating agency this year!
