Two of the victims are my cousins. I completey agree with the post above. One is in intensive care and is lucky to be alive. The other is still in shitty shape but will be ok.

I totally agree with the first post. The driver should pay for this crime and not be swept under the carpet like his first DUI because of his father- this is despicable. I'm praying for strength and full recovery to all those involved.

I pray that all injured have a speedy recovery. I'm unsure why people are mentioning the drivers father and his profession, his father is paid to enforce the law and has no bearing on what his son did.

They're mentioning the father and his profession because he will probably use it to get his kid out of trouble. If comment #3 is correct, it seems that may have already happened once. All the kids are a little at fault for crowding into the jeep, and letting a drunk take the wheel; they should have called their parents or a sober friend!

Let's not blame the father, Chief of Police and the family for one bad decision that was made by his son. He comes from a strict and respectful family. I have read up on the fammily online when he was selected as Chief of Police. And he comes from a family of character, good christians and his decendents were all dedicated Service people that worked in New Jersey. The Chief of Police earned his position and should be respected for it. This is unfair to attack him and the family when we don't know all the details. I would think that a household that has a high position simular to his that they would be even more strict on their children regarding the law than the average family. This happens all the time with young adults. I read about it constantly especially during prom time. By the way what was wrong with the other 6 kids? What were they thinking? How come they didn't step forward and offer to drive? Or even call someone? This was everyone's fault that stepped into that jeep, not just the driver. So instead of attacking family which is so unfair, Let's try to educate our young drivers instead.

Update: My cousin is out of her coma, off the vents, had surgery on her pelvis, and had 7 hours of facial reconstruction surgery. It will be a while before she gets home again. The other is ok, her face is banged up but she will be fine. I don't think the kids in the car were aware that the driver was intoxicated. They should not have been sitting on peoples laps but the group is known for waking their parents up at 3 am for rides. The driver is getting what he deserved. Thanks for all the prayers!
