Modify School Tax To Those With Children

As a homeowner, the burden of property taxes is not a concern that government officials lose sleep over. Tax fairness is of concern to me, but not to those who are plucking my goose! SPLOST, T-SPLOST or the Valdosta School Tax should all meet the same fate! If you do not have children in the schools, then let those multiplying like rabbits pay the taxes!

I have no children and have paid a lot of money over the years to support the education system. I continue to support education, but the burdens on homeowners are too great and it is time for rebellion!

It is time for a per capita tax for every child where taxes should be placed. If a parent is too poor, then other parents can carry the burden for those parents who cannot carry their fair share.

SPLOST and T-SPLOST were regressive taxes, unfairly burdening the poor for necessities. A school tax is not an unfair tax and a per capita tax placed on those with children in the schools is the way to go. Then, people will think before they cavalierly produce children that burden the rest of our society.

While I do understand your frustration and I can say I felt this way. If you did this, then you would have to modify everything, such as only tax people for road repairs if they have a license, tax people for public safety only when they use the system.

I am actually in favor of a flat tax across the board. Not sure of the figure, but lets get rid of deductions. Lets say everyone pays 10 percent and that is the only tax we ever pay. Then everyone pays 10 percent, and my 10 maybe more or less than the next, it is still 10 percent to me. I am middle class, but I feel putting a percent everyone feels the same, rich or poor. Then get rid of the IRS.

We need to flip the system upside down! The property tax system is abusive! Those who use services should pay for those services! Those without children should not be abused as they are now! A direct tax is best!
