Morven, Georgia is in the middle of four areas; Valdosta, Quitman, Adel, and Moultrie, Georgia. Those wanting to build homes and buy land on the outskirts of these towns are finding the Morven area so convenient. A little city with wonderful folks, beautiful landscape entices those to want to live in the community. With this new growth the City of Morven needs more stores such as a Home Depo or Lowes, Fred's or Wal-Mart, Video Stores, more restaurants for more variety of food to eat. Right now the citizens are traveling between 12-18 miles any way to the nearest towns to shop. There are enough population in this area to warrant the larger stores to build here. Hopefully someone reading this will contact those individuals and let's see some bigger stores in the Morven, Georgia area.

Can not see this happening but for convenience it would be great. I was happy to see the Dollar General or Family Dollar? Show up there..I live in AZ but moving back to Morven in March for a few years..and anything that comes to Morven would be great. I was there in Dec 07 and it has not changed much in the 3 years I have been gone...

Yes, Morven now has a reallynice Dollar General. Guess some things have changed since you were here. We are growing somewhat. Seems like the Valdosta folks want to buy land and build homes outside the Valdosta city area and are coming here now.
I have contacted Morven City Hall about getting a new library for the area. I have also placed an inquiry out for those interested in forming a Boy Scout Troop and Cub Scout Troop here in Morven. Hopefully, I'll get some response.

Morven needs a facelift! There needs to be some sort of city ordinance requiring storefronts to meet higher aesthetic standards. Tear it all down and start over!

I lived In Morven back the fifties. When Tucker was Principal and Cooper was coach at Morven High School. (i'm getting old - I know) I now live in West Monroe, La. Been back to visit many times as I have relatives there. I think a big enhancement to growth for Morven would be for someone to develop a Golf Course there. It is perfect location to draw from Valdosta, Quitman, Adel, etc. I believe people would buy lots and build homes around the Golf Course, and then would come the stores to supply the needs for the growing population. Had that happened I would have moved back there upon my retirement. I have always loved Morven and upbringing there.
