Judged: 2 2 1 A vote for Keown is a vote to return to the failed policies of the past Republican Administration. The only real loyalty the national level Republican politicians have is to the people who pay them the most. Sanford Bishop has delivered for Georgia for 18 years and hopefully that won't change after this election. If it does I hope the outrage and indignity people express now will remain close enough to the surface to come up again when Mikey screws the pooch. |

Judged: 1 1 1 I would agree with you completely if we had a good alternate. Mike Keown is not an acceptable replacement. You don't put a 9th grade lineman into and NFL game. We need to keep Bishop a while longer until either Republicans or Democrats come up with a qualified person to run. |

Judged: 3 Just a suggestion for you... if you are looking for a source of college money tahn right there in Columbus is the Picket and Hatcher Foundation. They used to be on Wyntton Road, don't know where they are now. They make loans to the student with the parent co-signing it. My daughter started with them in the early 90's and has been with them through her undergraduate degree, Masters Degree, and is now working on her PHD in Education. She will finish owing them quite a bit of money, but their payments are very reasonable and very very long term, and at a much better interest rate than the guaranteed student loans from the government. There's scholarship money available everywhere but you generally have to be very early applying or be a hery high GPA student. For the scholarships Bishop has to give out, I suggest you contact his office and ask for an application. The CBC (Congressional Black Caucus) provides money to each African American Congressman who joins the CBC to award in scholarships. I haven't read anything that says there's any restrictions on who can get the money so if I were in your shoes I'd certainly try for it. It never hurts to ask and all they can say is NO... but if you don't ask they can't award your child the scholarship... BTW... when my daughter was applying for scholarship money she received a scholarship grant from an NAACP chapter and she has red hair and blue eyes and is more Anglo Saxon Protestant than African American... so if you think your child won't get a CBC scholarship because she's white then you'd better get the application and see if that's a limiting factor. It may be but it may also NOT be. Good Luck and YES... I support Sanford Bishop for Re-Election. |

Judged: 2 2 2 If you can find a way to get the African Americans to vote you're doing better than most of us. The real majority in Georgia lies with the AA vote coupled with a smaller but significant number of white voters. Republicans are mostly white (though not all)... can you guess why ? If the AA would show up at the polls they could decide EVERY election. In confined areas they work together to elect specific candidates, but for Senators and Congressmen, and many State offices the coordinated effort is lacking. Hopefully the scattered orginization will work together for Bishop and for Obama in a couple of years. Mike Thurmond would be good too. Regardless of the outcome the only really good election is the one where the majority of the voters actually go to the polls and vote. That's the last thing Republicans want and I do have the documentation to back that statement up. |

Judged: 3 3 3 I've added my own comments to the end and summarized some of the data. It should give anyone a moment to think about where they place their vote... From examiner.com Oct 25, 2010 issue. A report released by the nonpartisan organization, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), shows that most of the Republican Party has given up on their promise to support our troops after they come home. Republicans say, to pass any legislation for our troops that the Democratic Party proposes can be seen as a Victory for the Democratic Party by American Voters, so we shall oppose any and all legislation in the name of Politics in order to take back control of Congress. The IAVA report shows of the 94 elected officials that earned an A or A+ rating from IAVA, 91 were Democrats and 3 were Republicans. Of the 154 officials who received a D or F, 142 were Republicans and 12 were Democrats. If you are a Veteran, a friend of a Veteran, or a family member of a Veteran, you need to know who in Washington is supporting the Veterans and who is throwing our Veterans under a bus for political gains. Take a moment of your time and go to the IAVA website and find out for yourself, don't take your Representatives word, you should know as much as you can about the person or persons you will be voting for and if they support our troops, or if they just think those three words fit nice on a bumper sticker. I’ve gone to the IAVA web site iavaaction.org to view the actual results. Of the Georgia legislators who concern residents of Thomas County, Sanford Bishop scored B in IAVA actions that affect Veterans. Both Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss scored D. Score was determined by a simple count of Veteran related legislation with a score of 1 for each vote by a legislator that supported veterans and our troops. Bishop scored 14 out of a possible 18. Isakson scored 5 out of a possible 12, and Chambliss scored 6 out of a possible 12. |

Judged: 2 2 1 remember he voted YES on that health care bill they rammed through at Christmas, billions and billions of dollars and no one reads it or debates it, they could have taken their time and done it right, especially with something so massive, but "just get it passed and we'll work it out later" ain't in our best interest and ain't doing your job right. You don't do your job right, you gotta find another one. See you later Mr. Bishop |
