Why did they not close the lanes of traffic in that area when doing a job like this? This could have prevented such a tragedy from happening. My prayers are with the Whalens.

We need to confirm that construction workers and crane operators are qualified to do the work. This is just another show of the lack of training by construction workers. It is a shame that a young women is paying the price.

And how the heck can you make such an ASSumption from reading this article??????

MD has some of the MOST stringent laws concerning construction-crane certifications etc. When it comes to the operations of a crane and their loads, there are many variables that could cause them to loose control of the load AND exactly why PA restricts their operations on state roads.

A. The Lane of traffic wasn't closed during the lift.
B. It's just a steal beam, really shouldn't be hard to control if you know what your doing.
C. If your performing a lift the area around you should be clear to prevent accidents such as this.

I think we all know that Say What is a might ASSumption himself.
