Apparently the new owners of the restaurant/theater did not plan to change the image of the place to attract different clientele. This could be accomplishd by changing the movie offerings. The restaurant business would not be affected except perhaps to sell food of a higher culinary standard, for adults. The atmosphere in the building must emit a dank alley smell to be the locale of a second sexual incident.
There are many fine films which could be shown in a small theater, at prices that would make the theater at least a contribution to Sparta's level of taste and culture. Just look at the offerings "down the line" Foreign films can draw audiences into Sparta in the opposite direction of traffic. Why leave it to Montclair or the colleges to show films worthy of a date and a small expensive lunch? For titles, just go to the StarLedger or NYT weekly reviews, which leave me salivating but unwilling to drive from my comfortable town.

I neglected to point to a more universal and hence less manageable problem. Drugs! When will we realize what a serious problem this is and how many crimes, not all of a sexual nature, are committed because of harmful drugs?
Mental illness,self-medication, and greed are at the root of drug enslavement. Will the medical profession cooperate with law enforcement and the now impotent clergy to save the lives of drug -enslaved people? Who oversees the psychotropic drug prescriptions written by highly qualified and licensed psychiatrists? Are professional boards doing their job? We have observed in our bloated Federal system the ineffectiveness of oversight. When will people do the jobs for which they are being paid? Walmart does a better job of rehabilitation than the agencies who have the funds and responsiility to do the job.Let us learn from the failures of Prohibition and form a better plan of action. First CLOSE THE BORDERS!Sparta is not safe!

The latest posts reflect the level of our county's education or lack of it. Take it from me,it was not always so. Proud up, native Sussex county people and their descendants! Resist the decline in class, morality, independence.

Rob must see only the lowest level of society. Try Middletown NY or Stroudsburg PA. Immigrants go there to fill jobs which the natives cannot see can lead to small businesses. Hence the most "ambitious" rednecks migrate to other easier living areas themselves, so they can feel self righteous. The true citizens stay and try to improve their towns by being the voice of conscience. I have observed that the apple does not fall far from the tree. Look at your own parents and try to do better.

Well said although it made me no better to have to stoop to his level to get a point across.
