Growing Groceries and picking fruit

Not in the public. Businesses

It's time for a change again at the top

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso said that Pleasant, a first-time offender, met all the criteria to be in the work-release program, however, authorities on Monday said a complete review will be done. Some of the issues authorities plan to review are the selection criteria for the program.

I agree, they should be kept contained. Allowing inmates to interact with the public defeats the purpose of them being locked up in the first place. I know some people argue about the prisoners rights but the safety of everyone else matters also. Even inmates with a non-violent record should be kept away, Pleasant had an assault charge if I remember correctly. It's time for people to realize that their system is not working.

and what are there violations.

Transitional Work Program
The transitional work program provides a structured transition period for offenders returning to the community with the intent of better preparing them for a successful, crime-free life. Selection criteria includes current and prior criminal behavior, institutional adjustment, and alcohol and chemical dependency history. The program contracts with public and private agencies for residential work release services.
