Re:04-03 Whittier letters, Not held by God - An awakening.
Pat Hall, writes of Hacienda Heights writes, " I, frankly, would prefer a presidentwho is not held hostage to any religion nor any god. He/she would then be able to make decisions based on reality and not wishful thinking."

Elizabeth Valencia of La Puente writes, "Americans were dumbed down the last eight years. Republicans followed the leader like sheep. Now in 50 days Republicans have become experts on banking, insurance, economic stimuli taxes, government spending, foreign relations, educating our citizens and environmental concerns, and Cal Thomas is speaking for God! "

Great letters, ladies. You can lead a Republican to knowledge, but you can't make them think.

Regarding Ray Broguiere's letter criticizing Mayor Rosie Vasquez's for not speaking to the media. Well Mr. Broguirre, instead of bitchin' like you always do, you should have done what I did and simply asked Mayor Vasquez what the problem is of her no longer talking to the media. I got a simple answer from her and I think if you stop hating and simply ask her like I did, you'll get the answer you want also.

Rosie has time to shovel her stuff except when the media calls these. Why is that?

Why don't you simply ask her? Jeeeeez. stop crying like a little bitch and simply go up to her and ask her like I did and you'll get an answer, unless you're afraid of her.

LOL, last I checked the papers she said either she said "NO COMMENT" for the thousandth time OR lies about anything everything... like:

A) How she had nothing to do with the last Recall against in town when it was being ran out of twin sister's house.

B) She blabbers on about how she'd wake up early (Rosie doesn't wake up early) to make her offspring a good breakfast before they'd go to MONTEBELLO HIGH (which they didn't go) and played water polo (which they play).

So I am to ask someone a question who either won't answer or lie?

The city will always be in a deficit! It is because of the mismanagement by the council and the city manager.

I cannot believe the City of Montebello is facing a deficit and the mayor and her cronies have calendared a 4th of July celebration at Grant Rea Park. The mayor will tell you that this event only costs $15,000 or that the fireworks are donated. This is a lie!!!! This event costs the City approximately $65,000 with staff, police, fire and other personnel. Why doesn't the mayor and her majority use this money to fund additional youth summer jobs, instead of allowing only 100 applications to be handed out? Why have a firework show when fireworks are still legal in Montebello. Most of the people that attend this event come from surrounding communities where fireworks are illegal. If I want to see a firework show I could step onto my lawn and watch one for free.....

At the last city investment meeting, they passed out a handout that said that there should be no cash flow problems for the next 6 months. Using the reserve is a fiscally responsible way to respond to this predicted deficit. Forming new taxation districts and pushing a residential Hill development which will cost the city's General Fund more money than it will bring in are not. The role for government in depression-like times is clear: Do public works projects which are too expensive in boom times, especially parks, which are needed more than ever in times of tight money when recreation is needed to ease people's minds.

Building condo+ projects in a city which has 354+ foreclosed homes, falling residential prices, and a hideous deficit of parkland is a sure way to city bankruptcy. Especially when new condo projects ALWAYS cause adjacent homes to DECLINE in value by 5 - 25% according to the county tax assessor. Thus, not only will neighbors see their houses decline in value even faster, the tax base will shrink markedly, with a corresponding decline in property tax revenue.

A question-should a city with a deficit pay for a consultant to tell them about how they could form tax assessment districts? a certain type of which would let the would be developer who urged the meeting, which has already reaped a huge profit from oil recovery, not pay taxes and be the only one to vote on whether to form the districts and to be able to use a lot of the money up front to de-grade the entire area they want to put condos and other types of houses on top of an oil field no less, and then after the instructional city council meeting/sales pitch, the youngest city council man greets with a big hug, a representative of that same oil company as she arrived at the Montebello City Hall to loiter around the Planning and other departments at either their own volition or at the invitation of that same and probably other city council people.. it is very likely the the small increase in the amount paid to the city and the frequency of the payments was to influence the City Council to vote in favor of the proposed housing project..... there are other indications of blatant conflicts of interest.... that is one of the reasons for the recall....oh, it is very shocking and sad when well meaning honest people arew taken in by liars... and then are picked on by others for telling the truth....

I don't know, Mike would probably have the gatherers say that they were hired by the Armenian Church.

The sale of Jimmies Family Restaurant was totally under the table and the city knew what lack of integrity Jimmy (Jamshid Javaheri)has. I called to advise Mr. Bazua about the lack of cooperation I was getting from Jimmy as to pay back a sum of about $73,000.00 dollars as I have been a silent investor in the business. Mr Bazua ignored my calls and could care less. Mr Javaheri also did the same. Has any one else been screwed by this business????

I don't often defend this city council, but the Jimmie's and Ostrom deal were both publicized and had more public comment than the Athens contract. They weren't part of this city council's new secrecy policy.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Virgo

Luckily, you're less susceptible to people leaning on you today, but there's still a chance that someone might try to take advantage of your good nature. It's so darn difficult to stand up to them, partly because you genuinely want to help if you can, and partly because you don't want to be seen in a bad light. But you don't want to be seen as a doormat either, do you?
