We need YOUR support!!

Hello Dulles parents and friends,
We will be having a Save Dulles Effort meeting this Thursday at 6pm at the Green Hills Baptist church off Imperial Hwy eastbound before Beach Blvd. Please invite everyone you know including Dulles neigborhood residents. We will be taking suggestions on what we can do to stop the closure of Dulles. See you there:) ps, i think if there are parents of children who attend la pluma and eastwood, that this meeting will also benefit you. if they close dulles, all of our kids will be shipped to your schools and add to the over crowding already going on. please pass on and try to attend

Overcrowding at La Pluma?? They have 6 open rooms. That is enough to house all the Dulles students by itself. Eastwood has open rooms also. Dulles is the smallest public school in the county that is not a charter school, does not have enough students for a full time principal, seems to me NLMUSD should consolidate resources so during these tough times we can give as much as possible to our kids.

they are trying to close dulles afer years of a horrible principal who challenged parents to leave.they did and now we have low attendance. we love our school and r trying to keep it open. we have a new principal and this has been the best year ever, even with ONLY a PART TIME principal. we are thriving and just need time to heal and grow again. please support our kids and our school. thank you in advance for positive support.

I feel bad for you, but they should have closed this school five years ago.

My daughter attends Dulles. I donít understand why the district thought it would be beneficial to let parents pick and choose what school their kids go to. What happened to boundaries and attending the school in your boundary? Dulles has a bad reputation but with new authority it has potential to be a great school. Itís crucial that everyone support this matter and do what they can to keep this school open.

It is time to close the school unless the residence around it are planning on a large birth rate increase. Just a sign of the demograpics. Don't waste money keeping it open any longer.

i agree with ramirez in this article. the presentation was awful and the facts were incorect. when they were called on it, they didnt have answers. i dont think the district cares about the kids or their education. where were they for all these years we have been asking for help to rid our school of the cancer they put in as a principal. many think she was put there to destroy the school and make everyone leave. she did a really good job of that by the way. now all of a sudden they care about our kids, humph, ya right! who knows, we might loose this battle but at least we wont go out loosers for not trying. the new princpal has made it a great place, too bad they arent giving her more of a chance.

Maybe they can turn it into a soccer park. That would be beneficial for the city, and city kids. Soccer only, no baseball, softball, football or cricket.

Who is going to pay for this soccer park, it's owned by the school district not the city? Plus the fact that it's a very valuable piece of land, if Dulles closes they will lease it out or sell it to the highest bidder.

The district has already decided to close the school...they are just going through the necessary motions to make sure they are covered so there will be no law suits. How sad is it that only Member Ed Hengler is the only elected official that returns phone calls and has always shown and acted on behalf of the children in the district...No One has ever responded like him. Kind of makes you wonder about the rest of the board, nothing has changed since the way they handled Hargitt. Gee, what happened to the La Mirada elected board members??????????

Whats with the parents pressuring other parents at Escalona and the other schools to sign petitions. When did the Unions take over Dulles. Don't go by the signatures parents were attacked as they came out of their cars to sign. Wow. How sad. More opportunity for the kids at other schools that test and teach better. Jobs. We are going broke and over taxed already. time to be smart. they are teachers, shouldn't they be smart. Good decisions aren't easy.

More opportunity for what? Please explain more opportunity!! The only thing I see is craming kids in already crowded class rooms and taking what these kids are use too and turning their world upside down splitting them from their friends and familiarity. It seems as though there has been a lot of miss management of both money and employees. Don't penalize the kids for this. I cannot image that bringing in more busses to bus the now displaced kids along with employing and insuring these people is cheaper. The solution is to create boundaries and put kids back in there rightful school and change this riduclious open enrollment crap. Stop trying to please all the parents. It seems as though the district is afraid to make hard decisions. Doing what's easy (closing dulles) is a ploy to keep already deep pockets deeper. They should be ashamed!!!

Dulles should have closed a long time ago. It is a shame that the district cannot act responsibly for the betterment of the entire student population. Did they forget that have 20 other schools? You cannot please everyone. And now unfortunately because this school has been left open, the entire student population will suffer. After all, they have to get money from somewhere else. How sad.

He answers because it is his responsibility as board president. But you got something right, they didn't handle Hargitt right, and they didn't handle this right either. Also remember that the same board members that screwed up Hargitt are the same four still there today.

BOUNDARIES!!! There are none and for that reason alone Dulles is suffering. It seems as though that's all the district has in mind is pleasing everyone. Parents put their kids where they choose just because they don't like someone or something... BOO FN HOO!!!! That's what we teach our kids now. What happened to putting in your big girl pantys and dealing with life's ups and downs? I applaud the district for keeping Dulles open and giving it a chance to recover from poor management. Take a look around you, all schools are suffering in this city and state. Yes even your child's school. The only difference is the school student enrollment. SMH!!!
