This from the ediitorial: "Yes, Gov. Bill Richardson said there'd be no local taxes to run the Rail Runner Express into town from Albuquerque and Belén. But politicians of both parties have been known to lie through their teeth about "no new taxes," so what's new?"

Followed by this: "For now, we have to trust district officials."

We know they lie, but we should trust them anyway? Great suggestion. No thanks, New Mexican. Instead, I think I'll vote "No" on low density mass transit.

It's like giving a beautiful brand new car as a birthday gift. Making a huge production as you hand over the keys and then leaving the payment book on the kitchen counter as you leave.

I checked the NCRTD bus schedule today and a visit to another community for "real work," i.e., over an hour at the destination, appears to require an overnight stay. That should help the motel/hotel and restaurant industry if folks can afford to make the "free" trip.
