"I'm Innocent." Just Check My Status on Facebook.

Full story: www.nytimes.com

The message on Rodney Bradford's Facebook page, posted at 11:49 a.m. on Oct. 17, asked where his pancakes were. The words were typed from a computer in his father’s apartment in Harlem. At the time, the sentence, written in street slang, was just another navel-gazing, cryptic Facebook status update — meaningless to anyone besides Mr. Bradford. But when Mr. Bradford, 19, was arrested the next day as a suspect in a robbery ...

I'm already planning my next robbery. My mom will make a comment from her home computer on my Facebook status at the exact same time I'm robbing the 7-11 across town. That's my alibi!

"A Brooklyn teen's playful Facebook message to his pregnant girlfriend about pancakes sprung him from jail and helped him avoid years in prison for a holdup he didn't commit."

This bum deserves to be in jail simply for breeding while on the dole.

YOU just keep it going. What are in you in 1st grade? Grow up and get over what ever you're going through. You're acting like a bratty kid who keeps poking his sibling with a stick and wonders why he was the one who got in trouble.

Anyone could've logged into his account. I'll bet he committed the crime.

NEW YORK -- A 19-year-old New York City man arrested on robbery charges has been exonerated thanks to his Facebook page.

Rodney Bradford was held for 12 days on suspicion of robbing two people on Oct. 17 in the Brooklyn public housing complex where he lives.

Bradford and witnesses insisted he was innocent. They said he was at his father's Harlem apartment when the crime occurred.

A playful message was posted on Bradford's Facebook page one minute before the robbery. In it, he asked his girlfriend where his pancakes were.

Prosecutors dropped the charges after Facebook verified the words had been typed from a computer at his father's building.

Who says he is on the dole ? Why is he a Bum? Is there some evidence you are reading about him that suggests your comments are not simply thinly veiled Bias , instead of fact based commentary?

Anyone could have committed the crime, from the way the charges were Dropped , I bet all they had was a Description of the robber. And with that classic line of You fit the description , and his prior troubles made it easy to make a case for arrest.

I Guess Neither have you, even if you are on a VPN your originating IP address may not be seen to the destination system , but every packet sent to the VPN for NAT is identified from that same orginating host. Example I am home on my domain DHCP(Ip : 10.1.4.10) My Switch Doles out IP ranges as well 168.154.55.10 -.254) my ISP talks to my switch and assigns it an internet facing IP of say 220.74.68.19 I use VPN to connect to My Job (221.74.128.19) and out to again to the internet for what ever reason. to the world my Ip is 221.74.128.19 But to the VPN it sees My actual IP address and where it came from.... I am sure they thought about that. what I am wondering is if they thought anyone was in his house on FB for him?

It wouldn't surprise me if this scheme was planned in advance. He probably thought he'd be out the next day, but the computer geniuses at the NYPD had trouble figuring things out.

Well not really

N.Y.P.D. has a pretty good Cybercrimes division. Staffed by actual Technical people not JUST by Hobbyists. The Criminal Research and Computer Crimes Investigation Unit has been pretty instrumental in a few SEC and other federal Agency associated crimes.

When they first came online in late 2003 it was only is response to a Homeland security mandate for a Cyber Crimes Division. But with NYC being the home on not only Wall Street, but many other Diplomatic bodies (United Nations) they expanded the department. In fact John Jay College in NYC is a direct feeder to the Department of Recruits from their Center on Cybercrime Studies.

When I went back to see my mom in Queens , I actually considered staying because they were offering to pay for college for anyone willing to sign on to CR-CCIU for 2 years at 1/2 grade pay.

And THAT is why you will FAIL in life , you listen too little you Assume too much , and say nothing of true worth.

I was thinking the same thing. He could have had his father or gf or whoever was in the house at the time just send the message from that computer.

Daily Horoscope for January 2

Taurus

It's important that you keep that famous bull-headedness in check over the next couple of weeks. Be cool, calm and sensible and you'll find that you end up with things correctly and tidily done. Stick to the straight and narrow, no matter what the distractions or irritations around you. If you think outside the square, you'll begin to see how visualisation can change and shape your life. Trust your hunches and be ready to move on them.
