Todd County is so full of trash it's unbelievable. And the good honest people are supporting them and their meth born babies.

Darrin Cole is one of the good ones who does a shit load for this crappy lil town and this is the thanks he gets.

I agree. Why didn't he yell? Or hit Darrin? 17 years old I'd have been swinging! Sounds suspicious to me for sure.

I have to agree that if at 17 years old I woke up to someone doing something of that nature to me, I would have screamed and tried to knock the hell out of him. It seems pretty suspicious to me that this student apparently did nothing.

I've been out of school many years now, but I still talk to Darrin when I see him. He has always been a great guy who loved his job. I have never heard anyone make a comment like this towards him. If I had my guess, this so called perfect child was probably doing drugs of some sort and Darrin caught him, and instead of telling on the kid he thought he would do the kid a favor and not get him in trouble. But the kid panicked and knew he was going to be in trouble so he made up a lie to protect his butt. And now his butt is sitting at home figuring out what he will do tomorrow or this weekend while Darrin is trying to figure his life out from here on. He has lost his job that he has had with the County for MANY MANY YEARS, could possibly lose his position as Fire Chief and will not be able to be a photographer with kids. The things this man loved and lived for is now ruined. Even when this is proved to be all a lie, his life is still ruined. Screaming rape has serious consequences. Especially when they are a LIE

As a mother who has been in this position with my child, but also someone who knows this man very well.....personal experience tells me that facts need to be in place FIRST!!!! From what I've read so far in the paper and heard on the radio, there are not enough facts to be condemning this man!!!! For Gods sake!!!! There's not even a police report filed!!! If the allegations are true, why wasn't a report filed with the police? Wouldn't that be the first order of business? And seriously!!!!! Just because someone is different than yourself, does that make that person a bad person? Where are the Christisns in Todd County?!?!? Neither child NOR man should be condemned at this point!!!! I love the man being accused very much and pray the accusations are false but I also pray for the child, as well. My child was molested and I have seen first hand what it does to a child!!!! But I have also seen what false accusations does to a man and how it ruins their life even after being found innocent. Have some compassion folks-- for ALL involved!!!!

Everyone should be careful of the name calling and accusations. In the end there are going to be some feet stuck in mouths. Be careful because it may be YOUR foot stuck in YOUR mouth!!!!

It is not as if the Board of Education, in general, are a group of distinguished people themselves based on any professional accomplishments. I personally graduated with many of them during their respective high school careers, and I can assure you from being in their presence in various environments they would not be considered "role models" by any stretch of the imgagination through continuous acts of smoking marijuana, drinking excessively and sexually molesting other people in the school setting. In the end, it is what it is.......... but I would take any decision rendered by this group of people with a grain of salt given their pasts and the way they treated others during their time at TCCHS!

If the incident were serious enough and verified through due process to justify an immediate dismissal, then allow the facts to be presented to the community and allow them to stand on their own merit. Otherwise, it seems more than likely if an official entity such as law enforcement does not prosecute this individual that he may indeed have a legitimate civil case against the school board for its premature action and wrongful disharge, which will cost the entire community both financially and emotionally.

Hopefully, truth and factual evidence will be presented by the Superintendent and the board members responsible for this personnel decision through the appropriate media outlets if they truly are the professionals as they desire to be perceived as within society. The board members are elected by the citizens of the county and so they should mirror the community's philosophy regarding character in the end. They are indicating through their rapid reaction to the situation that one of Todd County's own youth have been violated according to the laws of the land, and this case epitomizes good versus evil in many aspects; therefore, let the community know all the facts if you are making a judgment on someone's character and they will be responsible enough to process the factual information in an appropriate manner!

Actually, I am anything but an idiot regarding this issue. If the administration was willing to drive 3.5 hours to secure the facts, then why would they not have hime arrested for inappopriate contact or behavior with a minor. Did they secure a confession from the person accused? If so, then why would the Lexington detective not arrest or detain him?

In reality, there seems to be much information that is abnormal as far as this case entails. No one is implying the student is not intelligent, mature or lying; however, it does stand to reason without creating drama that more details should be forthcoming to the public to demonstrate the necessity to immediately remove him from his position.

If he did commit a crime against these young men, then by all means he deserves to face the consequences of his action. I do not believe anyone is attempting to rationalize his actions or behavior, but I do believe much more information should be disseminated to the people of the county. If a child predator was in the midst of youth for all this time, then the public has an absolute right to know and demand answers beyond a general statement saying an employee has been dismissed.

They will not be jeapordizing a criminal case against him in any way by simply stating as a fact he admitted to inappropriate behavior. As far as your claim for people desiring drama, I would simply respond that people want the truth and facts irregardless of how dramatic the details may be in the end.

Why yes, believe it or not some people are capable of telling the truth all of the time.

Innocent until proven guilty. I'm betting a good 90% of the population of todd county doesn't know their rights. Anyways I was only speaking on behalf of the young victims.
just wondering

innocent until proven guilty? where is the proof that mr. cole actually did anything wrong? there just wasn't enough information released for people to be slinging these accusations around.

the one question i have above all others is this - where did this supposedly happen? if the kids were on a school trip, did they have single rooms when they slept? if not, were there any witnesses, and why didn't the kid try to wake someone else up when this was taking place? also, i heard there was no police report filed and the authorities took no action against mr. cole. why would they let him walk away if there was proof of his guilt?

personally i don't have a solid opinion one way or the other because i haven't heard any real evidence to support either side yet, but i'm hoping more answers come to light very soon. i get that if this happened it's a very traumatic experience for the child, but i've known mr. cole for at least 25 years now and i would never think he would be someone to do anything like this.

Does anyone know the Superintendent's "official" background? What type of character does he really possess? Where did he grow up and what ideaology does he have toward sexual abuse, etc?

These are all things that should be known if he is responsible for the well-being of all Todd County students!

No information necessary! I have a contact near Lexington, KY that worked as an administrator in Fulton County for several years prior to moving to central Kentucky and they are going to supply the "full" background information on Benningfield from inside information received through Fulton officials.
