It's great that all you people who don't live in the area have all these thoughts on how the park impacts the community. You have no clue about the Gurnee area living in Addison, or Hinsdale. And to live in Hinsdale and say Gurnee sucks, you have to be kidding. Hinsdale's claim to fame is an oasis and a water treatment plant on the tollway, so congrats on that. Lastly, Mr "Chicago Taxpayer" learn to construct a sentence, you make no sense...

WOW!! I lived in Wildwood until 1986 and remember when Six Flags was built. It used to be owned by Marriott ( hotels ). Season passes were 29.00!! The area has grown wildly and what use to be corn fields is now homes or malls or other businesses. If a business closes it is NOT a good thing for anybody in the area. It means poor economy. If you didn't have the tax money from businesses going on some of the city projects, then the tax payers and tourists get to foot the entire bill. You should be thankful for the tourism and the help with the growth of your area. I have lived in 8 states, big cities like San Diego, CA and small towns with one stop light and the entire city governing body is related. You people need to stop complaining and be thankful. Team work is what it takes.

"tax payer"of gurnee i am a citizen of the usa and i am very thankful for all the hard workers they will do any job as long. As they have a way to provide for their family it really bothers me when people talk about imigrants as if they were criminals .i would also like to say that six flag is not closing but just having finacial problems..

I hope so! They bring slime to the community and don't pay taxes to the infrastructure of the city. Good by and good riddance. Perhaps fewer jobs for illegal aliens will improve the school district as well.

Ok...well this thread was meant for the question of "is six flags closing after the 2009 season", and a lot of these posts have nothing to do with that topic. If you want to complain about taxes or imigrants find the right thread.
