Connie Moran, John McKay will vie for Ocean Springs mayor in general election

Apr 13, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Mississippi Press

Connie Moran is seeking her third term as Mayor of Ocean Springs. Jackson County Supervisor John McKay, meanwhile, is making his second run for the office, having lost in the 2009 Republican primary to Scott Walker, who would go on to narrowly lose to Moran in the general election.

Truthful and honest like when exposed for taking a DMR fishing trip with grandson and friends in tow for a birthday celebration he could only come up with "It wasn't a birthday party because we did not have a cake. Then there is the question of John's relationship with Mawell-Walker and the JC jail. This will due for starters so lets get the conversation going.

Running over an elderly gentlemen in front of city hall, a hit and run in Jackson, selling off city business to the highest campaign donors, hanging out in the downtown bars every afternoon/evening, no concept of budget restraints, no respect from city employees and the board of aldermen, and their is more. Is this what we really want as the face of Ocean Springs?

It is sad to say but.Ocean Springs does not have a qualified canidate. What has been mention so far barely gets in to the unethical and sometimes possible criminal activities both have been a party to. NEITHER SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO RUN FOR PUBLIC OFFICE

I think we should also go back to the construction of the new Ocean Springs High School and examine the relationship between the out of town site contractor who was represented by Scott Walker and Robbie Maxwell.Look and see who pushed through the permit for the dirt pit in Vancleave that all of the neighbors objected to.Who hand carried this thru the permit process to allow for this dirt it to be placed in it's location in record time? If you read the Board of Supervisor's meeting minutes you will see who.The Walker relationship is very strong and visible if you look

McKay also announced he was not going to run for Mayor just 2 weeks before he decided to sign up for the race. Who pushed him to change his mind? Will Billy, Sharon and Scott Walker endorse him like he endorsed Scott the last time? Look at this long time relationship because it is still very strong. Together they were in control of a lot of decision making on the coast such as the OS schools, JC jail,DMR activities,ect.,ect.

Sometimes circumstances force a good person to alter their plans. Ocean Springs is hemorrhaging money and someone has to step forward and out a halt to this.

Neither one of them seem like a suitable mayor.
Given the McKay Hate, here are items that raise a point about the current major

Less than a year ago the current mayor ran for state treasurer. Did simply losing change her mind about abandoning the city? Had she won an election to fill her roll would have been necessary and would have cost the taxpayers additional money. Did she run because she wanted to be treasurer or in order to boost her Democratic Campaign Account in order to be better prepared for a reelection campaign as mayor?

If Ocean Springs is as bad of shape as you say then all incumbent aldermen should be fired because they make all of the money/spending decisions. Why is that so hard for some to accept? Oh yea it is the truth ,I get it.

The aldermen have at least stopped the bleeding by taking her out of the budget process. A group of aldermen and city department heads had to put the budget together and oversee the expenditures to make sure she doesn't come up with more projects to further drain the emergency fund balance. The city has less than 1 months cash reserves on hand. If it is not her fault as all of you who support her claim, then why did the aldermen have to go to this extreme? Why didn't she take the lead role as Mayor to correct the spending problem. The answer is that she is the spending problem.

The Pycamore case is a better example of waste. This has and will continue to cost the city and taxpayers thousands a month and the judgement hammer has not hit yet. Appeals to higher courts are not free. When the city attorney sits across the table and tells the aldermen they cannot prevail and they vote to proceed, now that is waste. But I guess you would blame the Mayor for that one too.

If you think John Mckay is a good person your nuts. The way he waste money will only cause Ocean Springs bleed faster. On top of that he can't spell or speak the truth. I don't think either canidate is worth voting for

I guess the residents of Iberville Drive were all misinformed and were completely wrong about Connie Moran's bias involvement with the owner of the building that was being leased. They know one thing. They are not interested in Connie Moran. Don't see any support at all for her on Iberville Dr. on the east side of highway 90

The one and only reason McKay is running for office is to increase his salary and therefore increase his retirement pension! He only makes around 38,000 a year! He can sure buy a lot of fried chicken on the Mayors salary! He might even be able to afford to charter a fishing trip paid for with his own money instead of spending the taxpayers money!! Oh, I forgot, the taxpayers have been subsidizing his lifestyle for many, many years now! I guess he feels we owe him! Open your eyes people!

McKay has always wanted to be Mayor. The salary is but one reason. Scott Walker kept him from getting to this office last time and his continued relationship with the Walkers will keep him from being OS Mayor this time.

So basically you have a graft-loving career politician good old boy layabout goldbricker with a history of city, county & state corruption & getting perks off the public dime against a kook woman who ran over an old man, weaseled out of a hit & run charge & DUI in Jackson, & waltzes around downtown drunk every night while promoting artsy fartsy crap that costs a ton of money while laying off people.

Either way, the city loses & people wonder why I don't vote often these days lol.
