Please call your Reps and ask them to support SB2369 for Medical Marijuana in MS. It is time to stop wasting the millions of dollars spent each year just for Marijuana arrest. MMJ will lower teen use by needing to show an ID to purchase and this will create new jobs in MS and we can support our schools and the elderly with this new revinew along with what we save from arrest.

You are very much in a smokey haze or just totally confused about this bill. Read it again. IT'S FOR PRESCRIBED MEDICAL USE ONLY!!!!!! ID or not, possession and purchase would be by prescription and getting caught driving will still get you a DUI and having it in your system at work will get you FIRED. Those needing it for pain relief from chemo and radiation will be on sick leave anyway and they will have to get a doctors release to come back to work AFTER they are clean. Somewhere in your mind, you've conjured up the idea that this bill will legalize MJ use 24/7 anywhere anytime. Sorry, but you better read it again.

You are partially right. Medical Marijuana is not the same as legalizing it for recreational use. If you drive under the influence of any prescription drug that intoxicates, you can get a DUI. What they can no longer do is arrest you for possession if you have an Rx card. As for getting fired, no. If medical marijuana is legalized, employers would ask for your Rx card if you test positive... otherwise, they would be violating the Americans with Disabilities Act if they fire you for taking prescribed medication.

Many proponents of legalization believe that medical marijuana is a step toward total legalization. That strategy has worked in other states already. So, the poster you replied to is not off his rocker.

You Must be High Dude! I am fully aware of what the bill reads and it is not even for a prescription it is a referral. If you would also note in the bill there will be a period of time that more illnesses can be added to the bill. It also states that anything you and your DR. deem as a treatable illness you will be able to use it. Standards for driving impaired for Marijuana have not truly held up in court do to the fact of how long THC stays in your system but a good felid sobriety test works just fine. Furthermore any step forward to regulation is better than prohibition!

SEND YOUR REP A LETTER!

History has occurred in Congress! On February 5, 2013, Representative Jared Polis (D-CO) introduced a bill to regulate marijuana in a manner similar to alcohol at the federal level. Following MPPÂ’s historic 2012 ballot initiative victory in Colorado, making the personal use and cultivation of marijuana legal for all adults, along with a similar initiative in Washington State, members of Congress now see the writing on the wall. They know it is only a matter of time before the cultivation and sale of marijuana is legal across the country. This bill establishes a regulatory structure for marijuana at the federal level. Please ask your U.S. representative to support this bill.

This is very important to people like me that suffer from Pain Diseases and those like me that can not take Prescription drugs due to side affects. Or Like me so allergic I could die from them. The natural herbal medication being made legal Can help me to actually become a working active human being again. It is not to be taken lightly. This is not a joking matter. Mississippi has been able to grow this drug legally by the federal government for years for studies that are still being done at a University in North MS. Now it is time we come into the light for the sake of those of us that are the silent sufferers. Please call your senator or rep about this ground breaking bill. Let the ball start to roll in a positive way here. It is past time.

Why would it be dead? Most Mississippians support legalization of cannabis... Write your state reps and tell them how you stand.
