I'm still employed there and everything I've read is the truth. All the top dogs have their family members working there over various depts. Director of HR's daughter is over the bartenders,cocktail waitress', and barbacks, the son is over the buffet, neither one know jack. Director of EVS wife is retail shop manager, fired the first retail shop manager to put his wife in there (good ol boy system). Mother EVS lead and daughter works in same dept. on the same shift. There's more pit bosses and supervisors at the gaming tables than dealers who stand around joking all day. Dir. of Slots and his puppy Rocky sit in dining room majority of the day. Lead IT Ryan is either outside,in the breakroom, or walking around drinking coffee 99% of the day. Management and Marketing sucks 100%, they owe every vendor around the area. The story about EVS not having cleaning supplies most of the time is true, I've talked with several of them and they usually are using plain water trying to clean with what they have, their Manager Thomas is a JOKE, who can't handle his supervisors or leads, he lets them run the dept.(right in the ground) graveyard EVS is down to 2 employees,lol, thank God Tom Brosig is finally gone,hopefully the new leadership will get rid of the previous management and marketing and bring in their own and try to keep this place up and running, if not, then the ship will continue to sink.

I heard the only reason that Talia Simms (hr directors daughter) has that job is bc when the resturant and casino divided and were made seperete venues her mommy went to Tom asking for Talia to get that spot when she was a secutary to the beverage director Lisa Miller. From what's been said she had 0 beverage experience and has a degree in marketing, or accounting. Must me nice to go from a Secutary to Director of Beverage and not have any beverage knowledge. "Hey, mommy I want a almost 75k a year job even though I have no experience doing it."

You are correct about Talia Simmons,if you want to find her check out the break room or any hallway talking to "mommy dearest" with a clip board in hand as if she's actually doing something with it. Hopefully new leadership if they have half a brain will come in an analyze who's actually doing something to boost the business, and who's just there with the buddy system. Get rid of the good ol' boy system, and get with the know how. If Joe Ellis can stay out of the gift shop watching his wife, maybe the EVS dept would be in better shape than what it's in. Walking around have never gotten anything done.

If he has to sit with you in the ADR to see the work you do, isn't that a problem since work should be done in the office or the casino floor?

@Uh_OH, so true,that goes to show you how smart she is,lol, the ADR is not where you should spend over half the day. It should be on the floor watching your people standing in football huddles and not paying attention to the customers who need help. The ADR is the break room, not a WORK area.

Sounds like people are getting there panties in a bunch for being called out on there work. Even though some employees may not know what all your job requires. Being in the break room for long periods prob isn't part of the job. As far a family running the place. If they have the background and experience to do the job go for it! But if they don't have the background or experience in that field they don't need to job bc it's not setting the company up for success. If somebody wants to be a electrician, who would you rather have (a) somebody with that job experience or (b) somebody that has no experience and just knows somebody that can get them the job? And what it sounds and looks like is people just got manager/director jobs with no experience at all. They got there family members to help them out getting a job knowing they are unqualified for the job they hold now. It's no wonder why that place is 4$million in debt, and loose 1.5million per month.

Just received a phone call from a bartender at margaritaville telling me there was a bartender with the same name as me fired for blogging on this site. Shows how the casino over reacts and fires people for having the same name as somebody that's talking. It's a real shame that happened. If anybody here can get me the info for the gentleman that was fired for me putting my name on here I would be greatly appreciated so I could try and contact him to apologize to him. I feel bad for using my own name, as affecting the employment of somebody that I don't even know an would know if I was to see him. Again any help in getting me his name and contact info would be great so I can contact him and sincerely apologize to him. Thanks to anybody that can help me

To respond to Tellthe Truth- you sure do have a lot of time on your hands to watch every single department and its leaders and workers.I guess you don't read all the secret shopper reports that score our property 100% of cleanliness(thanks to the Dir.of Fac/EVS Joe and Thomas EVS Mgr.Get your facts straight before you start bashing management and their relatives!We are a FAMILY company and have been since it was started.I guess you didn't get that section of our Orientation!If you are so miserable here and don't like the leadership-then LEAVE!I hate that you have to Blog your frustrations instead of going to your manager but it seems that you are a bitter person and jealous of your manager.Maybe if you acted like a grown mature adult you would move up in the company!

It's really shitty on your part to do that, now I am jobless during holiday season over this, that I am just now hearing about from friends!! With jobs as hard to come by as they are down here. I hope and pray that I can find out who you are and find you!!!! If you have a problem with the casino or people there. Don't go there!!! But now I am jobless bc of your post using your name Marc! If it is or isn't your name it don't matter. But what matters is your negative post cost me my job, that I busted my ass when I was there and was trying to tuff it out for the end prise. I bet that with the amount of libel that is going on by MV employees, Margaritaville has someone dedicated to matching the IP addesses of the posters to their address. Isn't there some kind of agreement that employees must abide by that they sign during orientation?

I have no idea. All I do is know that I didn't even know about this blog, till I found out I was fired bc of it, bc they thought Marc3753 was me. When I have no idea what was being wrote on here. Kinda shitty but I can't control overs actions especially if I don't know them but I get fired bc they put a name that happened to be mine. When there are others in the casino that have the same name

So I apologize to you for the loss of your job over something that I posted. I felt really bad after getting a phone call saying somebody lost there job over a post which I did. It was not my intention in the least to cost anybody their job especially when I don't even know you. Again BigMarc9658 I am truely sorry.

A lot of rumors I hear comming from the casino not wanting there employees to comment in this BLOG, WOW!!!! Didn't know freedom of speech was a crime!!! And to Talia Simms, you dumb ass hoe, you walk around that casino thinking your gods gift to the property. When your a big joke around there when everybody knows that the only reason you have a 75k a year job that you have no experience in the field your over. Rumor is, you and Kay Day didn't get along in marketing so "mommy dearest" put you a Asst Beverage director to keep you a job knowing you have no idea about beverage. It's a crying shame that this Beverage Director had a supervisor laid off and was heard saying "she had to go, bc she was a threat to my job." It's a crying shame that this so called "woman" had to get somebody laid off bc they knew more then the director and the director saw this supervisor "as a threat to her job". Hey Talia Simms, how about get some experience in a field before you call yourself a "beverage director" and get mommy to cover your ass!!
Slot Dept, how about the 2 slot techs walking out with the keys to all the slot machines and needing the slot machines rekeyed but before the company would come out to rekey everything they had to be payed almost 100k$ that Margaritaville never paid them for the slots when the casino opened. So you had 2 people quit take there keys home, and it cost close to 100k$ to get them rekeyed. And as far as the slots. 90% of the slots were used when they were bought for opening. So it's a new casino with used slot machines. Lol.
And how about the casino having to go to court bc of NO acting MOD if the whole place! So there are employees being fired, when it should be directors of departments being fired 1st. If the new COO has any knowledge of gaming he will review the experience of every director and get rid of the directors that are in positions with no experience and bc of family members getting them the job, and look at every dept and see the depts that are failing and start getting rid of directors not doing there job. Which is most of the directors there! This place will be closed down by next summer!
Gaming commission should have shut it down when they were popped for not having enough money on hand to cover bets placed a few moths back. Oops. Was I not suppose to blog on here being an employee!?
