If there is 1 being built at margaritaville, where and when did they break ground on it? I have asked a few current employees I am friends with and they still haven't broken ground on building a hotel. They were approved for the hotel. But have yet to get started

Ok quit bitching about the TIPS.... You are there to serve people drinks/food and not for tips. I mean your job title is not Tipper or I Make Tips is it? No. Do your job and put 200% effort in it and maybe you will get a tip. LAzy idiots!

Anybody that works for tips understands that you tip for service!!! Only cheap low life people that think they should get stuff for free or think the world and everybody in owes them something don't tip!! If somebody brings you a drink, makes you a drink, or brings your food out to you TIP THEM!!!!! No it don't say tip me on the badge but people with common since know to tip the servers, bartenders, or cocktails! We work for tips and get paid just a few dollars an hour! Bottom line is IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO TIP YOU DON'T NEED TO GO OUT!!!

I have seen seen guest go to a manager and say how good the service was and still not tip. It's not always about good service. Some people think they just don't have to tip. And as a cocktail, and bartender if you don't tip on your 1st drink your gunna be waiting for your next drink. If you want good service tip on every drink or you will get poor service. Cocktails and bartenders don't work for free. If you don't tip on your 1st drink you will be waiting on service while others that are tipping get service ahead of you. Service industry people go to the people tipping, not people stiffing

From another perspective, the casino has lots of potential, but a very poor layout when doing the "contests" It was impossible to play many video poker games, etc. as the seats were taken by non gamblers waiting for the contest. It was also impossible to play some of the machines which were blocked by the lines to the players club. The contests should be moved to the back wall of the casino, allowing gamblers access to the machines. The buffet may be "so-so", but the price is unbelievably cheap. Obviously, no gamblers are also non tippers.

I see a lot of people on this thread groaning about the MGC. Oh the MGC should be sued, oh, us TAX payers got robbed by the MGC, fire the Commissioners because they don't know what they are doing.

Well, first of all, let me teach you something all about the MGC. The MGC is self funded. The MGC makes it's money based on service fees that it charges the Casinos. The MGC makes its money by ensuring taxes are paid on Jackpots, and the MGC makes a small bit of it's money on citations it issues for violations of the MS Gaming Control Act.

Notice the key point if you would. Your TAX money is NOT used in any of this process. The MGC is the ONLY self funded agency in the MS Government.

So take your whining about your hard earned tax dollars somewhere else.

Considered yourself lucky to be enlightened.

Where was the Mississippi Gaming Commission half a year ago when Margaritaville didnt have enough money to pay vendors or cover gamblers winnings? And as far as no taxpayer money being used I guess your not aware that they recieved untold amounts of taxpayer dollars in GOZone money and other incintives from the state! I was told that the state was matching as much as 50% of employee pay for several months after opening, this is why they grossly overhired in the begining. Maybe you need to get your facts straight!

The place is doing better and good for them getting rid of dirctors that didn't know what they were doing "Talia Simms." To bad it took as long as it has to get things turned around. Alot of good employees left bc of the way things were. But at least the upper management that had no knowledge are out of place. It's still shocking that Talia lasted as long as she did. But everything catches up with you in the end!

Yes Talia is finally gone!!! Including Leon the dir.of logistics. He almost has all the unqualified top management out the door with the exception of a few more. I'm wondering when the EVS dept heads will be let go, then things will certainly get better in that dept. The turnaround in that dept is incredible. The supervisors have nasty attitudes and big heads. Now he's over the stewards and his head is bigger than the Goodyear blimp.

i just happened to see all this and I have never nor would ever work there all the negative posts everyone has known about for some time all negative comments are true from what numerous people have told me. It could be the place to go in Biloxi but as long as the management there operates { The Good Ol Boy System } Margaritaville is doomed. I have a good friend who's daughter graduated from the 8th ramked Buisness School in the country with a MBA she applied there and the job was gave to one of the family members with a high school diploma? Great management there everyone knows the Good Ol boys will eventually run it down.

Swing shift manger is on a power trip!!! Scheduler is slacking(Don't think she's qualified for that position). Who's the idiot hiring these morons right out of school? The "EYE IN THE SKY" seems to be running the joint. Shady waitresses, nosy bartenders, lazy or lack of security. Fun and Easy was gone before it started. I love my job is and understatement here. Onto the next....

See this is the brilliance that the Republican business types pushed thru when they crafted the tip law. So many people in this country & more importantly region are stupid beyond belief. In other countries if you are a server they pay you a set wage, usually 10 to 20 bucks an hour. THEN if the service is good you may get a tip. That's fine, no one cares or pouts about it. But you get paid by the employer, no matter what.

Here, the business owner class very intelligently shifted the onus & responsibility of paying the worker directly to the worker so this creates a situation where if the tip "isn't big enough" the waiter/waitress gets nasty & may spit in your food or report you to fellow workers so when you come back to same said restaurant you get bad service.

All the while the business owner makes off like a bandit, pays his workers squat & gets to avoid the "awkward" relationship with his employees where HE/SHE should be paying their workers a living wage instead of trying to get them to beg & hustle for chump change once a person or persons are finished with their meal.

I know some people who are really good with ppl or who know how to do it can make more via tips than wages but most can't. For most people waiter"ing" or waitress"ing" is about akin to working a "McJob" that pays nothing.

All the while the business owner, his supplier & the banker scumbags who own the note on the restaurant make off like bandits.

The tip system needs to change, it creates an irrational sense of hostility between workers & customers when the workers should be hustling their boss for a higher wage, instead of hustling for change from the customer.

Margaritaville had potential when they were building on the beach across from the Grand. They left the half built monstrosity there and built that tiny waste of space in a place that on a hot day stinks like rotten fish when you get out of your car. Dealers with little or no experience, initially not offering comps or slot play, no hotel, no signs on where they're at, all of these things turned them into a joke. We would tell players about them trying to help a new place out, that stopped when people talked about how much they disliked it. I've been there a few times, was not impressed. I've worked in casinos of all sizes, you can't make tips when dealers are so new they can't hardly deal the game much less interact with the players to earn the tips. I know very little about their management except the ones I have previous experience with. Let's just say the ones they have left the bigger casinos because they weren't worth giving an incentive to stay. A hotel will not save Margaritaville, it's just another thing that will lose money for them. When established casinos with much more to offer have half empty hotels how do they expect to make money?

Have gotten so tired of the BS, been there since day 1 and still no raise, was told by Shipley that all money would be put back into the property and not given to employees. No raises after a year, wow, hours have been cut once again, they charge us to eat, insurance taken out of check, taxes, and meals...whats left after that is taken from check nothing!!!!
This place is the laughing stock of the coast and it's getting worse.
