Water Conditions

Headed to Gulfshores from Louisiana July 2-13, last year at about the same time there seem to be a big issue with the jelly fish...anyone know if has been a problem yet this summer?

It's been so hot here that the Gulf boiled today, killing all the jellyfish!! Bring the meat tenderizer just in case.

Well thanks for those helpful tips and I can certainly believe it...it's been hot as hell here too....Same thing is happening here with our crawfish....they are boiling in the ponds!! LOL

You do know that meat tenderizer is good to put on jellyfish stings, don't you? If you didn't, it breaks down the chemical that causes it to sting. Wet the area and be generous with it. We always keep some in our beach bag. Someone actually makes a product now that the lifeguards usually keep, but Adolph's works just as good.

Bring those crawfish with you and we'll make some etoffe' or gumbo!!

Go to Le Roux on Rt. 59 in Foley (right in front of Lowe's) for the best Cajun cooking this side of N'olens.

really! I'll have to check that one out, as I have wondered about their food and have heard little other than what I see on their tv commercial.

Leaving for Gulfshores on saturday the 25th. Any update on the jellyfish would be appreciated...

As of Sunday afternoon, things were just fine. Water was a little murky, and still cooler (which is good from Hurricane standpoint), but I didn't see any jellyfish in the water or washed up on the beach in Gulf Shores area I was in. Bring the meat tenderizer just in case, as it breaks down the poison and makes the sting more tolerable; still not pain free though.
