The Gulf oil spill, unintentional and accidental, has created a sordid mess, all right. Lives have been lost, the environment and echo-system at risk in that area. Political infighting and finger pointing. Good thing that Alabama beaches are still open for business. One of the greatest get away's in the South is Gulf Shores and the surrounding neighborhoods. Doctor Beach, I call it. Let's hope that this horrible mess can be stopped soon and that further impact is kept to a minimum. A Beach (and wildlife) is a terrible thing to waste.

My whole family was coming to Orange Beach on the 26th. We had decided we could put up with the tar balls, but I honestly think the smell would make me sick. We had a beautiful condo rented and we all are disappointed. I wonder how the locals will deal with this mess in the months to come.

We have plans to come the week of June 20th, but now we do not know what to do. If anyone has any clues to what Orange Beach is like, the oil, smell, etc please let me know.
