Developers pay $4 million for 10 acres of gulf-front property in Orange Beach
ORANGE BEACH, Alabama -- Local developers paid $4 million for almost 10 acres of gulf-front property in Orange Beach, with 550 front feet on the Gulf, and plan to build Cottages at Romar, a single-family, gated community, according to court records.

Great--just another future drain on the National Flood Insurance when these stick-built cottages confront the next hurricane induced surge. If anyone--including developers want to build anything except a concrete high-rise on the beach, they should not be allowed to purchase taxpayer subsidized Flood Insurance. That is why the program is broke and getting brok'r.

I won't be buying any stick-built cottage condo on the beach like these. If I buy a condo it will be in a concrete high rise and I won't be on the ground floor.
