See, here we go again. This guy has previous convictions and now has been convicted of additional crimes. What happens? He is excused from the sentence for a previous crime, given concomitent prison terms, excused from another current crime, given credit for time already served, etc. Next, he will get out early for good behavior and be back in society in about 2-weeks committing more crimes. Thanks Judge--you are doing a great job at protecting society.

Give the guy 25 years in prison for stealing those pecans!

The fact that he is forging prescriptions says it all, he's a drug addict. Treat the addiction and stop the crime. It's obvious that warehousing these people in bigger and more costly jails is not stopping crime.

Drug addiction is an illness, not a crime. Unfortunately addicts resort to crime to pay for their addiction. We need to find a better way to deal with addiction.

Stealing pecans? Really? I have thought up several reasons on why anyone, especially this dude, would steal pecans. Maybe he was planning to hide drugs inside of the shells or maybe he was too intoxicated to know what he was doing, but whatever the reason was, this guy should be punished! Having previous encounters with other crimes adds up. Most prisoners don't have it as tough as they should in there! They get cable, food, books, etc. They shouldn't be getting nay of that! Prison should make them learn from their mistakes!( I think most would rather be in there than in the real world because they don't want to get a job)
