Changes at Franklin County Jail are saving money

Efficiency improvements at the county jail are beginning to pay off, literally. The Franklin County Sheriff's staff is giving fewer rides to inmates from Franklin County Jail to the courthouse in downtown Chambersburg.

Now if they were just smart enough to have a Central Booking and Night Court to shave off... oh wait, getten to far ahead.

I think that it's great for DUI offenders to be able to do their time on the weekends, letting them keep their jobs. This was a smart idea!

They have had a what you call Night Court or Cnetral Court for years. There are preliminary hearings held every Tuesday instead of calling in DJs for every event.

They have also had the video conferencing for many years but I do not think it had been greatly utilized in the past.

SURE ... let's reward immoral, dangerous behavior by letting them 'keep their jobs' during the week. Maybe no one will find out they've been driving drunk ---- until it's too late and they kill someone!

I think that what the county is doing to save money for the judicial system is great. The weekend program hasfinally came into effect after a long waited process. I see that it started in March of this year. I just have two questions for the judical system, who can qualify for the weekend program also who will begin to let the inmates out that are past ther release date without a home plan?

Preliminary Hearings at the jail for incarcerated defendants would be a good step to take next. This would cut down even more on transportation cost for the County and ultimately the taxpayer.

They do have a hearing room for this at the new facility but unsure if it is being used. Maybe with new DJ they will be able to do this as opposed to transport. But still seems more affordable to do via media. p

You still Stank away 25 Mil for the facility
(THAT YOU WILL ADMIT TOO). There is no way your saving me any money. You have a brand new emergency operations center in a fifty year old Army building ( That you can't furnish or operate). Join hands and jump off the roof of your jail with the three rocket science boys in charge of Franklin county government. This would save me some money and we could sell tickets to it and I just think we would have a big turn out.
