I hope this young man is OK.

I see so many kids riding bikes on the road who clearly have no understanding of road safety rules. Parents, teach your kids that when they ride a bike on the road, they are considered a vehicle and not a pedestrian, and safety rules are very important to prevent accidents.

For that matter, teach them how to be safe pedestrians, too.

Darn shame.

I avoid riding alongside vehicular traffic because of how poorly suited the roads are to cyclist's, even when following the rules of the road.

You make an important point; additionally, it would be nice if roads would better accomodate cyclists safely. Special travel lanes would be best. Look to places like Amsterdam as a role model in this respect to instruct how bicycles can be accomodated brilliantly into the transporation system.

I see many people driving cars who have no understanding of road rules, and this teen has to suffer because of that.

With the totally inept and self-involved drivers in CT is it any wonder. I swear that to get a driver's license in CT all you have to do is turn 16 and the state sends the license with a bill and your off.

I cannot get over the fact that people in CT have no concept of how to operate an automobile. They get in the car, put the Baby on Board sign in the window, slap the Student of the Month brag sticker on the bumper, fire up the cell phone and one of our lousy local radio stations, wrap their hand around the top of the steering wheel, mash the gas peddle and if you're in the way, you are screwed. Drive at night without their lights on, forget about using signals for any reason what so ever. The drivers in CT are like a bunch of brainless drunks, but by all means ticket the guy going 46 in a 45. CT drivers are psychos who have no care for anything or anyone around them. That simple.

I hope the kid is OK and that his family sues the daylights out of the guy that hit him and maybe even try to sue the state for allowing the reckless behavior to continue.

Please don't blame the trucks or out of staters either.
