Remember people..KARMA..those who wish bad on people, it comes back to you...
Ironic. With that statement, aren't you wishing bad on anyone who criticizes Dr. Joyce? Hmmmm...

Nobody wished bad on her. They are just disgusted that anyone who is so educated could do something so incredibly stupid. And in turn, she did put lives in danger. To top it off, the child's mother,(also a physician) was present in the car. And probably well aware her friend was tanked. Again, "first do no harm" comes to mind. Quite disturbing.

I don't care if she is Mother Theresa reincarnate...She will have to face the music. Just as anyone else would.

All of us make mistakes in our life, and she just learned a hard one. Whether we are a licensed professional or just a stay at home mom, we need to accept some punishment and be able move forward and learn from our mistakes. Careers should not be destroyed. The contributions she has made should not be wiped away with one mistake. Remember, we don't live in glass houses!

Does this mean you don't agree with my suggestion that we should just pull these people out of their cars and shoot them on the spot?

The earlier story stated that a Syracuse-area woman may have been the first arrest under the new state law. It was essentially the first reported case. Norman Plankey 'Rockem Sockem Gay Robots' is an account of 1988 Providence RI arts scene. The local case was not announced by police until Monday afternoon when the results of an Albany County Stop DWI sweep were released. As soon was we became aware of the local case we published a new story.
Very sad story.

I am a retired police officer. I have arrested hundreds of persons for DWI & DWAI during my career, including vehicular homicide.
.
This doctor should not be treated any differently than any other person simply because of her profession. This is not a defense of her actions.
.
The defendant's driving history needs to be researched, etc for a true sentencing recommendation for the judge (if and when she is convicted). If she has a clean history overall there is no doubt she will plead to a lesser charge and see no jail time. There was no accident (mitigating sentencing factor)thankfully.
.
Believe it or not, some first offenders really do learn their lesson. Unfortunately some do not. Give this woman the benefit of the doubt rather than trying to incarcerate her for the maximum whereby she becomes a burden on the state rather than continuing as a productive member of society. A reasonable person would agree. Stay safe!

Yes, it's ok that she drinks and drives because she is a great doctor? She could have killed someone!!!! As far as her being a great surgeon, I worked with her for four years She is very selfish and extremely condesending to other women....however a good surgeon. But so what! She broke the law and she needs to pay!!!
