Does anyone believe that something will be done to stop mass killing by guns in this Country?
Absolutely Not

There won't be a thing done to stop these maniacs from buying these assault rifles and carrying out their deranged killings. Two enormous problems. 1- The gun dealers are not allowed to ask a buyer anything concerning their mental health , nor are they allowed to do a mental health check on the person buying the gun. This is considered an invasion of the buyers privacy and is against the law to do so.2- If for some reason a person is not able to purchase a gun somebody else gets it for them. When the maniac carries out their big mass murder plan , the owner reports the gun stolen. Something has absloutely got to be done about this invasion of privacy on these mental patients. Why not let everybody know who they are ?, like they do the sex offenders. It would sure be helpful to know if we had somebody who may be capable of committing a masacre living in the neighborhood.

The implied direct correlation between mental illness (what kind of mental illness?*All* mental illness?) and the capacity to commit mass murder is part of the reason why people who have psychiatric disorders are less inclined to be open about it and get the help they need. Likening "mental patients" to sex offenders is absurd and stupid. That you think the answer to this county's mental health problem is to further ostracize and victimize those who suffer from these conditions reflects a little poorly on your intelligence.

Have you ever bought a gun? There are multiple questions asked on the background check forms in reference to mental health and if a person has been committed, voluntary or involuntary, they must admit that fact. Not doing so will find a person in a lot of trouble. They will find out. Can someone lie if they have been diagnosed or committed? Sure. However, stating that they do not ask and are barred by law from asking is a blatant lie. Keep watching your Michael Moore movies and only speak when you are knowledgable on a subject.

They are both on the same track. Both are killers. They just kill for different reasons. Neither want to get help.Neither want anybody to know what they are planning to do. Neither feel any empathy or ampathy about their actions. This is not an attempt to ostracize or victimize these mental patients. It is an attempt to save other peoples lives. We have done something about sex offenders now it is time we stop letting mental people run free, carrying assault rifles and killing as they please. Mental Illness should not be confidential because it goes hand in hand with violence and murder.

Excuse me, but what school of psychiatry did you graduate from? I'm trying to establish what qualification you have by which you can declare, absent of any evidence, that mental illness "goes hand in hand with violence and murder". What research have you done to determine that every man, woman and child with a mental illness is a "killer"? You have broadly defined literally all mentally ill people as psychopaths who may at any time snap and murder dozens of people. This, besides being obviously stupid, doesn't bear up to facts. There are tens of millions of mentally ill people living in this country, and the number of them who have murdered anybody is statistically zero.

Try cracking a book or two open before the next time you decide to ply your hand at armchair psychiatry.

Nobody is allowed access to anybodys medical record without signed consent. We are not required to give our medical information when purchasing a fire arm. The dealer is not allowed to ask. So check the law there WB WILDMAN. You have no idea what the hell you are talking about. This is one of the biggest hinderences on keeping these assault rifles and fire arms out of these mental patients hands. It has been discussed in lengthy detail on the news. Get out from behind that computer and find out what is going on in the world, DUD.

I understand that you're embarrassed about having your bullshit called, but you don't need to resort to name-calling like some kind of child. You came on here, beshit this thread with unlettered ignorance, and then took to making assumptions about my mental health when you were told the truth. The only person here demonstrating any kind of impairment is you.

What the law says about mental health and gun prohibition is not a matter of guesses or hunches or your "opinion". It's a matter of FACT, and in the time it took you to smear your ill-informed excrement across this thread you could have typed five or six words into Google and learned this for yourself. The facts don't corroborate your unhinged vendetta against the mentally ill, but that's your fault, not mine.

If you expect me to apologize for pulling the curtain on your lies, then you need to get a clue. Call me names all day, but the facts won't change.

Guns dont kill people, people kill people. It was in his head that he was gonna do this and there was no stopping him so if he didnt have a guns he woulda just used a bomb and even more people would have died (gasoline and fertalizer are easy to get without a background check) and all the instructions are on the net. And what kinda law will prevent someone even insane from obtaining a firearm, when a crimanal with no intent to obide by anylaw can just steal one from damnnear anyone. Dont take guns out of the hands of lawbiding citizens and make them defenseless.

Boom! Thanks "to the churches". "Just try", keep on believing you are right and I am wrong when I have bought over fifty guns in my life, so I know exactly what I am talking about in this instance. Also, before you throw your consent argument out again, when you sign the form, twice I might add and initial a few more, you are authorizing the Virginia State Police to verify the information you have provided. Their databases are cross checked with the FBI's and ATF's. Go back to your hole now.

If you sign the consent , then fine. You are not required by Law to sign it because it is considered an invasion of privacy. If you refuse you can still buy the gun. mental patients refuse to sign and release any medical psychiatric information.Obama spoke about this today. He wants access to these medical records made mandatory when purchasing a fire arm.

The medical records that are asked on the "concealed carry" applications and gun purchase forms are not protected by "hippa" laws. Don't take my word for it go buy a gun from a licensed gun dealer or try to get a concealed carry permit. Better yet type in "the questions asked on a fire arm purchase application in the state of Virginia.

Still Wrong,

You are not just wrong but really stupid! You CANNOT purchase a gun from a dealer without a signature. I just purchased a gun last week. You CANNOT refuse to sign and still purchase a gun. I say you are full of crap up to your eye balls! Now everyone knows you have never purchased a gun from a dealer and will never get a Concealed Carry permit without signing.

This post shows just how stupid some people are in America!

I would say "Just Try" never has purchased a gun from any dealer before.
