So, we just got taken over by sykes, we were previously ICT. I was wondering is there anything that is better or different about sykes. How are the benefits. How is the pay? What do the Teamleads make over the reps. I am a teamlead I want to know. Is sykes a full-time employer? I am just curious what to expect next year.

if you like rules that change daily, perverted account managers that hit on you constantly, smartas* accountants, benefits that don't perform as amazing as they sound, getting jumped because youre stats + quality are never good at the same time, and team managers who cant multi task the jobs theyve been given to do.....
sykes is your place!:D
The perverted account manager was disposed of and we now have a new account manager. Sykes does have some good benefits but I am not going to lie to you, some are not the greatest. Hell they even give you a 12 percent discount on your cell phone if you have verizon wireless as your provider just for working at sykes. If you go out and buy a new Ford vehicle, you will also get employee pricing for the vehicle because you work at Sykes. It is a call center, and all call centers are the same so yes things can change on a weekly basis because Sykes client wants them to change. Sykes has a client that they work for and if they want to keep that client then they will do what their client asks of them, just like any other business. We must meet client expectations and that is why they work with you to get your stats at goal. If Sykes was not meeting the goals that the client set for them, do you honestly think their client would keep Sykes? No they would not, business is business so if you dont think you would like working in a call center atmosphere then you probably wouldnt want to work at Sykes but just keep in mind a call center is a call center, same concept and same game. It is what it is :-)

Sykes is a full time employer and as far as the definition of your team lead is different from our team leads so I am not so sure of how the pay will differ. It also differs from location to location.

I got out of Sykes hell wrote:
Yes, Sykes Ponca may be a horrible place but only because It goes straight to the top in Tampa, FL. No business in their right mind should entrust their "business" to this company. The senior managment is infected with poor decision making, rotten business practices, incompetent and unskilled management staff, imbezzlement, theft, nepotism, bullying, verbal and emotional abuse of employees, etc...
This company protects managers who engage in sexual harrassment, create mass failures of call centers and failures in the Atlanta data center, fire loyal employees with decades of service even, see staff members that save the company millions of dollars a year as a threat, look down on any employee not US based as inferior, find ways to offload US cost onto business units overseas. It is an environment where you have to walk down the hallway with your butt to the wall. It is a place where it is proven that god couldn't possibly exist, yet the worst people in the corporate tower flash god around like a cheap chinatown watch.
John Sykes wanted the company to be a billion dollar company for 2010, so he bought ICT. Now with the mass mis-management of the merger, not knowing where all of their assets are, no one wanting to take ownership or responsibility, along with the loss of Cisco and other customers and the mass hemmoraging of money... I cross my fingers that this will end up in the demise of this pit of Sociopaths.
Will John Sykes care? Naw. The company is paying for him to take helicopter lessons so him and his wife don't have to get around like "the normal people do."
just wanted to throw it out there that you are an idiot...the ceo's name is chuck lmao

every bad thing that was said about sykes is true...i worked there for a year almost, the policy changed daily, none of the managers know what they are doing. It is the only call center in the area besides Issues and Answers and it pays pretty good, so why is the rentention rate so high? exactly cause its all bullshit at that place

if the financial aspect of the job is so great , why do they have such a high turnover rate of employees quitting.

As many of the previous posts have vividly illustrated, Sykes is riddled with drama and gossip. Fortunately you can avoid most of it if you simply don't talk/listen to your coworkers. As far as the job goes, the pay sucks. It's barely over minimum wage. Clients usually have in-house customer support and then outsource to Sykes to ease call volume. Clients are not always aware of the associate pay that Sykes offer. As a result, Sykes employees get paid a fraction (1/2 to 2/3) of what in-house associates get paid for the exact same job. But if you, like me, live in a crappy town with an exploitable work force, Sykes will roll into town, wreck a few thousand lives as they are ground in and (quickly) out of Sykes, and then...I don't know. I guess they leave once they've made an enemy out of everyone in the town. I'll have to wait and see on that one. I do know that over half of my hiring group has already quit less than 6 months later. I also know that one of the clients got very angry when they found out what Sykes was paying associates. Sykes decided to enact performance bonuses, 1-2% for selected metrics you met during a particular pay period which worked out to around 8% if you were perfect. This seems good, but it also gets into certain tricky situations, like if an employee passes out at their desk and an ambulance has to take them to the hospital (happened at least twice in the past year), that goes against your metrics because you are not answering phones. You actually get less money for the hours you did work, because you passed out at your desk and had to be taken to the hospital. I'm glad to be out of there. Some of the managers and HR people really try to make the place bearable, but even their best efforts could not meet my standards. If you have half a brain and most of your teeth, you can do better. If not, then welcome to Sykes. Education and experience not required.

I hear that Sykes will soon have full time security guards on duty, 24/7. It seems that it is not safe for some of the supervisors/managers to walk across the parking lot.

Tina lied, she never was going to be a model, she got a damn free facial from Mary Kay for a promotional thing. Lying hoe bag, like that could ever model. Walking around like she's something, vehicle full of trash all the way to the ceiling. She is such a skank.

Sykes is an OK place to work. It can be a dangerous climb in the winter but if you take a 10 hr shift it's not that bad. It can be a major bore depending on your personality. But it's a job you can keep if you pay attention and are careful on the job. You're working for Bank of America and the Bank is, well, in uncharted territory using an experimental business model. It's also getting beat up by liberal orgs across the country (and everyone else, apparently). They are shell shocked and it shows.

The people there are generally trustworthy... a bit paranoid maybe but seems like most people around here are.

Altogether if you don't want a fast-paced job that involves a lot of physical activity and you don't have a degree, Sykes is a good bet. The call scripts are boring but, at least it's a stable income.

And it's worth noting that call volume there is pretty stable. It's an easy going job when a lot of people are employed there. So the more friends you have working with you the more time you have off calls which makes everything a lot easier. Of course that means more gossip but... turn a blind eye.

Go to work at Sykes, enroll at an online campus and take college courses. Leave with a good work background and get a great job. Could be a plan.
