Common sense, huh? Okay, challenge accepted! "She got me a bigger refund" How would you know this unless you actually paid H&R the $250 AND Anne the $85 and compared your refunds? Let that sink in for a moment. Go 'head and take all the time you need to come up with a good response.

Highway Robbery

H & R stands for highway robbery in H& R block. All you have to do is take your past tax returns that were done at H&R to a good CPA and you will be shocked at how much you have been over paying the gov that you didn't owe. They dont know what they are doing. That is why they will guarantee that you won't owe any more tax for that year.I had my returns checked and I got back a hugh amount of money that I had paid and didn't owe on past returns done at H& R block. I would advise anybody to stear clear of that place.
Automatic Deduction

Grundy, VA

#7 Feb 2, 2013
I heard one of the workers once laughing about how she didn't give the automatic deduction that a famly member could get if they were taking care of a sick parent. Doing things like using their vehicle to take the sick parent to DR., Using it to go get groceries and other expenses incured Etc. she said that if they didn't know about the deduction and didn't mention it, that she sure didn't let them know about it. This deduction was suppose to be given on the short form. The person didn't have to itemize to get it.
Something else they do

If a person has a full time job and is also working a little on a second job that person will end up paying a hugh amt. of tax. What they do is turn the second job in as a business that the person owns. This throws the tax owed into a higher bracket. Since the person does not own a business these high tax were not deducted and the person ends up owing a hugh amt of tax when they should have gotten back a large amount.

Here is another thing they will do that is wrong. If a person sells any land or right of way to the gas company they turn that in as earned income from real estate business. Then more that one third of the money for the sale goes to tax. This is out and out wrong because the sale of land is capital gain and you do not pay tax on this money unless it is more than five hundred thousand dollars or in that range somewhere. Then you only pay tax on the amt of money above five hundred thousand. H&R Block has took a fortune off of these people that sold right of way to consol gas company with this crooked tax practice. By the way, when they fill it out this way on people who have sold land they charge $300.00 for preparing your return.

Because H&R block did a free estimate for me cause I've been a customer for the past 23 years and said I would only get back $1600, Anne Coleman got me over $4200. Challenge met!! Bye- bye Block!

CPAS can go back for five years and redo them if they are not right. Ann Coleman is good And also that CPA, Mr Cole across the road from Advance Auto is very good.
HR is crazy

I contact H&R this year because my taxes were complicated from selling a farm in one state and moving here to Grundy for School. I was told that there was only 1 person that could even think about looking at my "complicated" return and that it would be several weeks before they could work with me because of my schedule. Not her schedule, but mine because she didn't want to come in on weekends or stay late (the only times I was available). So basically the "well trained personnel" are lazy incompetents. I went to Ann Coleman and am happy so far.

You made a smart move. They dont know how to do that kind of returns. The person who does them will tax the capital income from sale of land as earned income . Capital income is not taxable unless it is above 500.000.00. then only the amt. above 500.000.00 They don't know any better. Because of this sale they would have charged you more than 300.00 for doing that return. If you sell land they take over one half of the money for tax .
